Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Claudia (Dia) Starr. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Claudia (Dia) , appreciate you joining us today. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?

We are remembered by the imprint that we have etched into the hearts and minds of others. Through a network of successes, failures, contributions, life lessons and actions I am the architect of my own life.

I have had some type of business since I was 16 years old. Some were complete and total failures and some have been a great success. I have lost hundreds of thousands of dollars and I have made and profited even more. I have cried enough tears to fill an ocean. All because I have dreams, I want to live a certain way in life. I want to do things that I never thought I would do.

But most importantly is that I don’t want to do it alone. My legacy will be the many countless Business owners that I help achieve there goals along the way. I have been bumping my head and figuring it out for over 17 years and I want to pass my knowledge down to businesses alike so that they don’t make mistakes and have challenges that I have already had!

Claudia (Dia) , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

Hi im Claudia, I am a Serial Entrepreneur born and raised in Dallas, TX. I do a little bit of everything. I am the owner of DS Sweet Treats and Catering, Boujie Business Solutions and Dia Starr The Artist.

Myself and my team provide catering and speciality cake services. Business credit and coaching services as well as social media marketing and web design.

I got my start in high school back when MySpace was hot lol. I was really into tech and a bit of a nerd. I taught myself how to html code and I use to charge my classmates to build their MySpace pages, you know make them pretty!!! From there I went on to minor in web design and marketing and major in culinary arts.

We do have an extensive southern cuisine menu!! Wedding season is coming up as well and we will be busy baking this summer!

What sets me apart from others is that I’m often times a one stop shop! On the one hand for catering we can do food, desserts and cakes. On the business side we can do your coaching, credit and business plan to get you ready for major success!

What I’m most proud of is that I finally learned how to accept and not be afraid of failure so that I could make it to the other side of success! I’m not where I want to be completely but the road is definitely more clear.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?

So many lessons I wish we were taught growing up with personal and business financies. I myself just like many small business owners initially started with self funding. I remember my first business. I saved up $300 found an eyelash vendor overseas. I would talk to her at 2 and 3 am is time because it was there day time. We went back and fourth for weeks about designs and styles and I finally I trusted all the money I had saved to her and ordered my first round of lashes. It took a lot of work but I turned that $300 into $1500 then I fully invested that $1500 into my next order and turned it into $8,000 from there I was able to order the inventory I needed for my first boutique. I hoped on a flight to LA and came back with 2 suite cases of inventory. I taught myself how to manage my own money, how to keep everything separate and how to pay myself. Now I officially do not have to mix my personal money into my business. I have developed and established business credit that helps daily with the working capital of my corporation.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

Honestly I feel I built my audience just by being myself. People don’t like scripts when they follow an influencer or a person in general they want you to be your full authentic self. That’s what keeps people interested. It’s like what is she gonna do next or in my case what is she gonna say next cause honey it just comes out my mouth lol. I do not have a filter!
