Classified , appreciate you joining us today. What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?
I hope that my legacy is one that is not easily forgotten. I hope that it is something that people can learn from and respect. Not because of the things that I’m doing, but because of the person that I am and the way that I live.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Classified Alias, a producer and musician, from Birmingham, AL. I consider myself a genre-blending producer, heavily influenced by jazz, funk, gospel and house music. I’m obsessed with creating. Whether it’s music for performing artists, podcasts, scores, vlogs, or beat tapes, it’s all the same. Believing that my originality was cool and creative enough to stand out has always been something I’ve believed in and I think that’s what has been my driving force.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Seeing how this space transform in our culture and its growth has been pretty cool. I strive to play an even larger part in that growth. Providing resources for others to create and exposing them to all of the possibilities that I’ve been shown, and more. Being a conduit for creation and relationships is just as fulfilling as being the person that’s creating. With all that, I believe I have a natural drive to do this. With or without any accolades or money or recognition, I’d still love it the same and I’d share that passion with the world.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Kindness and consistency. Like I said before, I love what I do and I get just as much joy helping someone else accomplish their goals as I do for my own. I think that’s a cool way to live. Not for the reciprocated benefit, but just because you should and you’ll reap what you sow. I’m also consistent with my craft. I’ve been a musician for more than half my life now and I still practice and experiment as if I’m a novice. Like an athlete, I do 2 a days with my music. Meaning, I may not have the time everyday to dedicate the hours I want to creating, but I still find time to create at minimum 2 pieces a day. They may not always be the best, but sometimes they end up being some of my best work. With that, I say sharp and prepared.
