We were lucky to catch up with Clash recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Clash thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Has your work ever been misunderstood or mischaracterized?
As you begin to reach for your dreams, you will often miscategorize yourself. I know I have. I wanted to be “that rapper”, “an underwear model” or so many other things that didn’t properly show the people what I have to offer. This becomes apparent when you study your peers. Someone could be presenting at the exact same event as you with way less than you– yet still draw in a bigger crowd. Not because they were better, but they use their art like an attentive Sniper. Waiting patiently for these moments to shoot at well placed stars and avoiding being seen before their time.
Clash, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m Clash. The courageous leader flying out of Long Beach, CA. Working with AIM4theHeart and recently selling out several NFT’s with Gala Music, I deliver hope in the form of beautiful sounds. I feel like anyone can lead, but most lead you astray. Those that listen to me will only hear those that they can respect. It’s not my love for women, money, drugs, or fame that attracts. It’s the fact that I would rather die than to not stand up for what’s right. I know that kids today just want to make it, and when they follow my blueprint they end up paid and edjumakated.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Since the brink of Covid-19, ya boy has learned to step down and focus! Contrary to what these artists tell you, keeping a dope job while you’re on the rise is ESSENTIAL. I want thousands of plays, I want amazingly eye-catching outfits, I want to be able to go to the shows my friends invite me to without dipping into my business budget. Hell! I need a business budget. The best thing that I learned these last few years has been to focus on what’s real and keep that stream of income until you are SET!
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My goal has always been to express. I’m a black American that grew up in the heart of gang culture. Growing up I never had a Clash to listen to. I didn’t know of any young men starting companies, let alone without parents bankrolling it all. I know millions of kids who grew up like I did though. Without, yet reaching. They gone be seen after I rip the stage. After I show them what those who are given up on can do! We are the change that the world needs tomorrow!
