Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Claire Li. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Claire, appreciate you joining us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I believe success comes from persistence and consistency. Persistence helps me push through challenges and setbacks, while consistency allows me to build strong habits and keep improving over time. By staying committed to my goals and putting in the effort every day, I’ve been able to make steady progress and work toward long-term success.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hi, I’m Claire! Growing up in Taichung, Taiwan, my creative journey has been deeply shaped by my background in industrial design. Crafting physical prototypes taught me to uncover hidden details, refine ideas through iteration, and develop a deeper understanding of the creative process. This hands-on approach has influenced how I approach digital design, allowing me to appreciate the nuances that make a design not just functional, but truly memorable.
Now based in LA, I’m a product designer passionate about creating accessible technology and intentional designs that positively impact user experiences. I love solving design puzzles, iterating based on user insights, and creating purposeful experiences for diverse users.
Recently, I interned at Actian and Endless Health, where I gained hands-on experience in accessible UI/UX, vision strategy, and user-centered design while exploring future-forward concepts.
I’m currently completing my degree in Interaction Design at ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, with a minor in Designmatters and social innovation. Moving forward, I’m excited to continue pushing the boundaries of design, blending my industrial and digital design backgrounds to create impactful and thoughtful user experiences.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Throughout my journey in physical and digital product design, resilience has been a cornerstone of my growth. One defining experience that tested and strengthened my perseverance was my work with the Cedars-Sinai & ArtCenter Designmatters program as an UX designer focused on designing an AI voice assistant interface and interaction.
After months of developing a prototype, I encountered unexpected technical and usability challenges that required me to rethink my approach. Rather than viewing these obstacles as setbacks, I saw them as opportunities to improve my design and expand my creativity. By analyzing what wasn’t working, seeking mentor feedback, and integrating user insights, I refined my design into a solution that better addressed user needs.
This experience taught me the value of persistence and adaptability, reinforcing my belief that meaningful design emerges through thoughtful iteration. As I approach graduation, I carry with me a problem-solving mindset and a deep commitment to creating accessible, impactful designs that truly resonate with users.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
As a Product Designer, I am passionate about creating accessible technologies and products that positively impact users.
My creative journey has been a collection of creativity and problem-solving, uncovering new layers and deeper insights. With a previous degree in Industrial Design, my eye for detail transformed my perspective on digital design and sparked a desire to create more intentional interactions and experiences.
I love the challenge of solving puzzles, iterating through user feedback, and collaborating with experts from various disciplines. I design with intention, always considering the diverse needs of people today and into the future.
Above all, I prioritize kindness in my work, crafting experiences that not only solve problems but also bring moments of joy.
