We recently connected with Claire Candy Hough and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Claire Candy, thanks for joining us today. Setting up an independent practice is a daunting endeavor. Can you talk to us about what it was like for you – what were some of the main steps, challenges, etc.

Make a Life Instead of Making a Living

It was 21 years ago in 2003 that I created my extraordinary business and I do not exaggerate when I use that word extraordinary to explain what has happened since its creation. Come to think of it, if you are going to call your business ‘Angel Healing House’, I guess one can expect a miracle or two along the way.
It is often at milestones in our lives that we look back and review the path along the journey. And, many times, with a business, one assesses its success or failure solely on its financial ‘bottom line’. Yet, looking back on the past two decades, the richness and abundance I have received, and the incredible life’s lessons that it has presented, has added so much more to the wealth of my life than just money. My business has given me opportunities to give of my time, my heart, my compassion, and my unconditional love, and what has come back to me has been miraculous and so much more valuable than gold.
People give you all kinds of advice when one starts a business: keep accounts, act professional, be responsible, trustworthy, reliable, etc. But the best business advice I ever received was from my father who told me, “Whatever you do, if you decide to give, give purely, give openly and generously, and give with all your heart. And remember, the gift is in the giving; giving is a gift that you give to yourself.” And some of the most miraculous results from my giving brought me gifts that I could never have imagined as represented by my testimonials:

Practice that I would never use the word ‘healer’ on anything associated with Angel Healing House, because I am not the healer. It is the client’s reconnection to God and recognition of fully loving themselves, that opens the door for true healing to begin. As a Healing Practitioner, I help them to heal themselves, but ultimately the client gets to make the choice.
There is a saying, “We teach best what we need to learn most.” In 2003, because of my finally learning to love myself, connecting with the Divine inside of me, and creating Heaven on Earth, I then went forth to help others love themselves and create their own Heavens.
My business has been successful because I chose to make a life and not merely make a living. I chose to do what makes my heart sing and gives me great joy, which is inspiring people to believe in the importance of their physical, mental, emotional. and spiritual health and wellbeing. When one makes a life instead of making a living, one does not compromise what breathes life into one’s soul. One begins to understand that the energies behind our joy, passion, and fruition for what we do is an integral puzzle piece of the Planet. The natural offshoot of joy is that it sets our soul free to fly and create limitless possibilities for more joy to enter our lives. If one puts their emphasis solely on making a living, solely on the bottom line, the emphasis is off creativity and joy, and the Universe reads this as coming from lack, which will bring more lack to us.
Angel Healing House has given me the opportunity to spread my wings fully and make my life and the lives of my clients brighter.

Claire Candy, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

When asked to share the story about how I got into the Healing Arts, it was not a conscious choice but a more Divinely ordered decision that my soul contracted to carry out in this lifetime. It was 21 years ago through my angelic Walk-In experience that I, the soul of Angel Ariel, re-incarnated in Claire Candy’s body when she walked-out and went home to God. It was then that I undertook my mission to be of Divine service to help humanity to reconnect to their Divine eternal natures and to bring more light to the Planet and help it ascend into the Golden Era of Light and Truth.
It was not long after my remarkable Walk-In experience in 2003 that I received my Master/Teacher Degrees in two forms of Reiki Energy Healing, the traditional Japanese Usui system and the Egyptian Sechem Sekhem discipline, I went on to create my Angel Healing House Healing Practice, where I passionately pursue this mission as a Reiki Master/Teacher, Emotion Code Practitioner, Spiritual Teacher, an Intuitive Counselor, a clairvoyant Tarot Card Reader, Angel Practitioner, and through Past Life Healings and Ancestral Clearing Sessions, along with teaching Tarot and all levels of Reiki. Some of the ways that I have shared my channeled uplifting, enlightening, life-affirming, encouraging and positive messages from my angelic family, The Posse of Angels is through interviews and articles like this one, my 12-year running Angel Healing House Blog Talk Radio Show, my Claire Candy Hough YouTube channel, and through writing.
I am a writer, a two-time #1 Amazon Bestselling International author. My first book. “Angels of Faith” is based on my 2 near-death experiences and how we do not die as we are Divine and eternal as we live on as Spirit. My second book, the novel “One True Home-Behind the Veil of Forgetfulness” shares with readers my five most important past lives. They were most important as I grew the most spiritually and when I chose to exit those incarnations, I describe what I did in Heaven across the veil as Spirit before I chose to experience another human life. My next novel, “I Am an Angelic Walk-In-The Autobiography of Angel Ariel” is the sequel to “One True Home” and chronicles that life of Claire Candy and how she came to experience that destined day on January 11, 2003, when her soul walked out of her body, and I Angel Ariel walked in to take over her responsibilities and to be of service to humanity. I am also one of the executive producers on the two ‘Audible’ audiobooks of my novels and, along with professional voice over actors on the audiobook, I lend my voice to both the narrator and Angel Ariel characters.
One of the things that sets me apart from some other Healing Practitioners is that I do not see my clients as having problems and, as such, do not set out to solve them. Those things that others see as problems, I see as wonderful lessons, blessings in contrast that often teach us, test us, and help us to be challenged to grow into our full potential.
As an Angel Practitioner, I can see a client’s life from a higher perspective and see not only the map of their current life that they have navigated, but also their former past lives and how the often-trapped emotional baggage from those lives are hijacking the client from experiencing a life of abundance, ease, grace, peace, love, and joy. These trapped emotions that have us running on default instead of consciously creating their choices, keep them hostage by being negatively reacting rather than being mindful to choose alternate positive, uplifting ways to see things. For instance, instead of seeing something as a problem, I ask my clients to see it as a gift that they are giving to themselves to learn tolerance, patience, acceptance, and forgiveness, all important lessons.
For over two decades through my business, I am most proud of helping my clients to find their way back to reconnect to their Divine eternal natures and loving themselves again. When I personally came home to the Divine within myself and decided to radiate that love to the world, my whole life, the people who I drew to myself, and the opportunities that manifested for me became reflections of that love within. By consciously choosing to make my every thought, every word and feeling in my heart come from that place of love, I created an energetic force within that became a vibration that touched everything else in the world with love.
It is a joy to see my clients discovering this unconditional love which makes them feel whole and gives them clarity, contentment, peace, and joy. It is from this Divine connection to our love within that we begin to experience our true potential and begin to create a reality, a world of love for ourselves and others.
My success as a Healing Practitioner took years and years of building up a solid reputation and a strong foundation on which my current clients and prospective clients can confidently place their faith and belief in me. Through Angel Healing House over the past two decades since 2003, I have set very high standards in integrity, always demonstrating a high degree of professionalism. By being consistent and delivering excellence in everything that I do, it shows that I take pride and believe in what I am doing. This integrity is reflected in my respectful posts on social media, the high standards of professionalism in the self-publishing of my books and the careful thought-out presentations on YouTube.
By being consistent and true to my word, my clients know that I will follow through with what I say and that I am invested in their well-being. In a world where responses are whittled down to an emoji, when one invests in another person and takes the time to really consider a valued response to their questions, it shows a deep level of care and commitment to them.
My success has been built one client at a time showing them respect, honor, and great love and what I have received in return is their trust and loyalty in returning over the years and having no hesitation in recommending me to others.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?

Looking over my 21 years as a Healing Practitioner my resiliency, my ability to adapt easily to misfortune or change has helped me to navigate through the rough seas of challenges and to establishing a much-loved business. Some of the things that have helped me to be resilient are:

1. Recognizing the impermanence of difficulties
2. Seeing setbacks as opportunities for growth
3. Utilizing my tools to manage stress and emotions,
4. Being able to recognize when things are out of my control,
5. Knowing that my perception of a situation and not my circumstance is my greatest tool.
6. And having the faith in believing in the loving, guiding hand of a higher power than myself.

The faith in a higher power, God Source Creator mentioned in number 6 on this list should be number 1, because without it the other statements have little to no fuel to see someone through in very disheartening, harrowing times. In 2006, I drew to my Angel Healing House business an opportunity to not only test my resilience but my faith and belief in God and the Angels.
It was in that year that I received a call from a mother whose shaky voice described her bulimic and anorexic, drug addicted daughter who was abusing prescription medication. She sobbed as she described how her once bright and happy teen now looked like she had become engulfed by a dark shroud and that there was a foul smell upon her. This mother cried that she had been to many other Doctors and Alternative Practitioners, and they all had concluded to institutionalize her daughter as she was beyond hope. (The word that got my attention was beyond hope when I know that with God’s help, nothing is impossible.)
She went on to say that I had been highly recommended by a friend and she booked an appointment for her daughter. Several days later the doorbell rang and, upon opening the door, I was confronted by a skeletal, wafer-thin girl with a spaced-out zombie appearance who was being held up by a woman behind her. After the mother introduced herself and her daughter, she released her grip on the girl and pushed her towards me, saying, “See what you can do for her, I’ll be back in an hour and a half.” With the words still hanging in the air, *Susan’s mother hurried to the car, obviously thrilled to have passed the burden of her child on to someone else.
As I sat this rail-thin girl down in my healing room, her hooded, bloodshot eyes surrounded by pools of dark coloration indicated that she was, in a real sense, decaying from her lack of light and the negativity that was engulfing her. When I gave her a client form to fill out, she was barely able to hold her head upright, let alone lucidly write as her answers to the form’s
questions were illegible. Although most of my healings start with Intuitive Counselling for clients to see where they are dishonoring themselves and giving their power away, Susan was in no state to make coherent conversation. I decided to devote most of the healing session time on the massage table transforming and exorcizing the dark, negative energies that were strangling her life force and were suppressing her free will. In my experience as a Healing Practitioner, I have clearly seen that when there is a sustained history of alcohol and drug abuse, this weakens the energetic field around a person and, depending on the length and severity of the abuse, cracks start to form in the person’s auric field. In this way, dark, often malevolent energies can enter the body, use, and manipulate the person, much like a marionette, to serve its dark agenda.
As she lay on the massage table, I said my invocation aloud in which I ask to be a clear channel and conduit for God’s Divine energies to work through me, and for anything that is not of the light to be transmuted into the light of God. I called in my angelic help and my psychic surgeons to help on the Etheric Plane. As in many of my sessions, my clients become so relaxed that they drift off to sleep immediately, and Susan was no exception. (I surmise that my Angels and guides induce sleep so that the healings can be experienced on a much deeper, unconscious level. This deep, sleep induced state is very beneficial when it comes to a client releasing long-held emotional blocks, for it is in this unconscious sleep-state that their conscious mind doesn’t get in the way of holding anything back.) In this peaceful state, Susan’s body started to react to the Divinely driven energies. Much like my other clients. I noticed tics, jerks, and flinches in her muscles as her system started to release accumulated negative energy and toxins that had built-up over-time in her physical body.
It is important to understand that every time we have denied our Divine eternal natures and dishonored who we are, we live a life of emotionally betraying ourselves. The emotional muscle inside of us becomes tight, stressed, tense, and remains in a deeply saddened state. In a session, as the body surrenders to the healing and opens to receive these Divine, light-filled energies, it starts to remember the balanced, relaxed state that is our natural birthright. And just like a masseuse or chiropractor manipulating a physical muscle to release the tension, these energies are performing the same function to help the emotional muscles to release tension and bring them back to their original state of calmness, tranquility, and peace.
Carefully watching and monitoring Susan throughout the session, I could clearly see the dark entities seething and writhing as they reacted to being bombarded by God’s light-filled, loving energies. While God’s heavenly light was entering her and bathing the healing room, it caused these attached dark energies to squirm and cringe as they were being burned away by the presence and love of the Divine. Suddenly, Susan let out a shriek, clutched at her chest, and sat bolt upright in her sleep. At that point, I saw the dark, ghoulish apparitions flee from her body and get transmuted into the light of God by the heavenly choir of Angels assisting in the healing. As I eased her back down on the table, I noticed the color of her skin started to rapidly change. Her life-less, dark pallor began to disappear and the deep, black circles underneath her eyes began to vanish as her skin started to glow, as if backlit by tiny little faerie lights. Her skin turned from an ashen grey to a pink, healthy rosy radiance. As I touched both of her shoulders to signal her to return to her conscious state, she began to cry and told me about the band of Angels that held her in their arms, reminding her of how God adored and loved her.
Having allowed herself to be brought out of a fog of damaging and destructive negativity, she was able to experience a new-found clarity. Hugging me profusely, she said, “Thank you for saving my life.” I told her that she had decided to do that, along with God’s love, and that I only held her as she opened to reconnecting to her Divinity within. Coherent and clear once more, we spoke about the life-affirming choices and the beneficial ways that she could strengthen and bolster her energies by positively nurturing and nourishing her life.
With the cathartic and transformative results of her initial session, it had given Susan the vitality and the strength to deal with addressing the horrendous events that had led her into addiction. Our 8 weeks of follow-up sessions were like exhuming a dark crypt as she divulged that her father had started to rape her at the tender age of 6, with the sexual abuse continuing until she was twelve. When her mother found out, she divorced and remarried when Susan was fourteen. But her shame, self-loathing and low self-worth kept her in a perpetual downward spiral of self-hatred that had her escaping into drug abuse and into the arms of her abusive drug dealing boyfriend.
In one of our sessions, she bitterly cried as she told me that her parents and brothers had strictly forbidden her from attending her brother’s wedding in 8 weeks’ time. This was because she was always in a drug-induced state and was such an embarrassment to the family. With each session, she became more and more empowered to make positive, healthy choices in her life and by the end of 6 weeks, her parents could not believe the changes in their daughter. In the 7th week, I received a very excited phone call from Susan when she shared that she had reconciled with her stepfather and mother, and that they were shopping for a dress for her to wear to her brother’s wedding. Several weeks later, I received a letter with beautiful photos of Susan’s radiant, smiling face included in the wedding party and her mother’s heartfelt gratitude, thanking me for returning her beautiful daughter to the family, healthy and happy once more.
By being resilient to the fact that a higher power is conducting the healing, miracles often occur when we allow the power of God’s loving, healing light to dispel darkness in our lives.

Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?

The practices that have helped me to have my thriving, much-loved, and respected Angel Healing House business after two decades have been the same things that have helped all endeavors and businesses to continue to deliver long-standing excellence to their customers and clientele.

The first is to be impeccable with your words by speaking with integrity and never speaking negative words about anyone, which is often done when trying to downgrade the competition to build ourselves up.
The second is to not take anything personally because what a person says or does has nothing to do with us and is created by their paradigm and beliefs. When this is fully understood we are no longer victims of needless suffering as we realize that there is no competition, and we are immune to the opinions and actions of others.
The third practice is to never make assumptions and to always have the courage and bravery of your convictions and express yourself honestly and clearly with others.
The fourth practice is always do your best.
The fifth is to treat people with honor and respect and take the time, effort and care to invest in their success, health and wellbeing.
The sixth is to acknowledge the importance of where people are in their lives, and not seeing it as a mistake or something that should not be happening. This helps them to see the power in themselves to have created such an important lesson in contrast and demonstrates that they can choose to make different choices instead.
And the most important one of all is to inspire hope in others to believe in themselves; for where there is hope, everything is possible.
