We recently connected with Cinneah El-Amin and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Cinneah thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you manage your own social media?
I grew my Flynanced social channels from 0 to 200,000+ followers in 4 years, with no previous social media management or marketing experience. Since the beginning, I’ve managed my own social media channels because 1) I really enjoy storytelling and creatively sharing my ideas and 2) out of necessity – when I started, I had 0 capital to hire a team. Managing my own social media and growing this community has not been easy and there have been many times I felt burnt out and overwhelmed by the planning, execution, and effort required to have a multi-channel social strategy. The good side of running my own socials has been in the relationships I’ve been able to build…with my customers, with partners, and with other creators across my niche, who have become IRL friends and colleagues. My advice to other business owners getting started on social is to focus on ONE platform while you build your voice, momentum, and flow. Additionally, I would remind business owners to lean into the SOCIAL of social media… don’t only focus on what’s it in for your consumers but seek community with other business owners and creators, who can share their ideas and hold you accountable. If you can afford to outsource, hire ASAP, especially if social media is not a core offering of your business.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m Cinneah El-Amin (pronounced: sin-ee-AH), the voice and founder behind Flynanced, an award-winning personal finance community platform shifting the narrative around work and wealth. As a creator, educator, and coach, I teach ambitious working professionals strategies to help them earn more, build wealth, and effortlessly do more of what they love. I like to say that my work sits at the intersection of personal finance and professional development so you can financially thrive with your 9-5. I fell into entrepreneurship back in 2020 after years of making money mistakes and poor money management, I decided I wanted to share my own story around paying off debt and increasing my net worth. Professional women and men across the U.S. and in countries around the world. To date, my work has been featured on ABC’s Good Morning America, CNBC, Marketwatch, ESSENCE, Black Enterprise, Fortune, and many other media outlets and has allowed me to teach over 5,000 students.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
When I started Flynanced, I focused almost exclusively on travel and budget travel content: travel hacks, credit card travel rewards. etc. Back then (2020-2021), my audience was growing steadily but I had not achieved true market fit… no viral moments, sparse press coverage, no real revenue outside of a handful of small brand partnerships. As my community was growing, however, I was receiving more and more questions from my audience around work, career, and how I was able to afford all of my travels and location-optional lifestyle. It dawned on me that more of my audience needed tools and strategies to get to where I was financially, so that they too could take advantage of a travel-abundant lifestyle. I tested out the pivot before totally abandoning my previous focus, by sharing some content on Instagram (back when reels were first introduced) to see what the response would be. The video went almost instantly viral with nearly 500k views and became my most watched piece of content, which proved to me that a pivot was necessary. Since pivoting, my audience exploded, revenue accelerated, and I’ve been able to work in my business full-time.

How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
it’s so important to ask your customers questions and for feedback often! I keep in touch with my community through several channels: emails, focus groups. surveys, polls on social media, and interactive live sessions on IG and TikTok. For me, fostering brand loyalty also comes from being authentic and transparent in a world where so much of what we see online is fake, doctored, and altered.
