Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Cindy Witteman. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Cindy, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
So, one evening during dinner, I had this lightbulb moment and came up with the idea for the nonprofit, Driving Single Parents. It’s all about giving cars to single-parent families, helping them take charge of their lives again. But when I shared the idea, I faced some doubt. People suggested I should start smaller, like offering free Uber or Lyft rides instead. Despite the skepticism, I didn’t let it stop me. Within just 24 hours, I whipped up a solid business plan and launched the website. And guess what? We were able to gift a car to our first single-parent family in less than a month. It was an incredible feeling to see my vision turn into reality so quickly. Fast forward we have blessed many single parent families over the course of the 7 years since I founded the organization.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Cindy Witteman, and I’m excited to share a glimpse into my world with you. My journey into the work I do today has been a colorful one, filled with ups, downs, and a whole lot of learning along the way.
I wear many hats, and each one is dear to my heart. As the Founder and CEO of FORCE Magazine, a Business Owner, and a 4x Best-Selling Author, I’m on a mission to spread stories that matter and spark change in people’s lives. Winning awards like the 2023 International Impact Book Award and the Trailblazer Award has only fueled my fire to keep pushing for positive impact.
When I’m not immersed in media projects like hosting the “Little Give” TV Show and the “Is Manifesting Bullshit Podcast,” you’ll find me wearing my other hats – as an Entrepreneur, Action Mastery Coach, Speaker, and yes, even a Beekeeper. Each role lets me connect with folks in unique ways, sharing insights and helping them on their journey.
One of my proudest achievements is founding Driving Single Parents Inc. back in 2017. It’s a cause close to my heart, dedicated to giving single parents a hand up when they need it most. Through this nonprofit, we’ve been able to provide reliable wheels to single-parent families, helping them break down barriers and chase their dreams.
What sets me apart? Well, I like to think it’s my wholehearted approach to making a difference. Whether I’m behind the mic, coaching clients, or rolling up my sleeves for a nonprofit project, my goal is always the same: to empower others and spread a little hope.
For anyone thinking about joining me on this journey, whether as a client, follower, or fan, I want you to know this: I’m here for you. Through the highs and lows, I’m committed to supporting your growth and cheering you on every step of the way.
So, that’s me in a nutshell – a passionate storyteller, a dedicated coach, and a believer in the power of small acts to create big change. Let’s make a difference together, one little give at a time.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Many years ago, I found myself trapped in a domestic violence marriage. Growing up in a single-parent household, II promised myself I would never become a single parent.
However, one day, while folding laundry with my daughters and tuning in to Dr. Phil, he said. “It’s better to come from a broken home than it is to grow up in one”. Those words struck me to the core. In that moment, I knew I had to break free.
Summoning every ounce of courage, I gathered my girls, a basket of clothes, and a bag of diapers, and we walked out the door. It marked the beginning of a journey toward a new life, one defined by resilience and determination.
I worked extra hard to piece together our shattered world. Working two jobs and attending college simultaneously, I fought tooth and nail to rebuild our foundation. There were days when putting food on the table meant selling plasma just to scrape by, especially in the absence of child support. I refused to be defeated. Eventually, our perseverance paid off. We found our footing again, standing tall on the solid ground of our own making.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
The lesson I had to unlearn was the damaging conditioning I absorbed during my childhood and abusive marriage. I internalized hurtful messages, being told I talked too much, was too skinny, unintelligent, and worthless. These words became my reality, clouding my self-perception and dimming my sense of worth.
Breaking free from those shackles meant unlearning everything I once believed about myself. It meant challenging the lies that had been ingrained in my mind and proving to myself that I was worthy, capable, and deserving of success.
It wasn’t easy. It required a relentless commitment to self-discovery and growth. But with each step forward, I reclaimed a piece of myself that had been lost. I embraced my voice, my body, my intellect, and my worth.
Through sheer determination, I shattered the limitations that had been imposed upon me and emerged stronger than ever before. I became resilient, not only for myself but for my daughters as well.
In rewriting my story, I dismantled the false narratives that once held me captive and forged a new path—one defined by empowerment, self-love, and unwavering belief in my own potential. And in doing so, I became the role model I had always aspired to be for my daughters, showing them that they too have the power to rise above any adversity and carve out their own destinies.
