We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Cindy Witteman a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Cindy, appreciate you joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
My business began with a simple willingness to embrace opportunity. I knew I wanted to start something meaningful, but I wasn’t quite sure what it would look like. I still remember sitting in front of the computer after forming the LLC, staring at a blank website, wondering what direction it would take. The first step was adding the book I co-authored, and from there, everything started to come together.
Today, that initial leap of faith has grown into a business that includes five best-selling books, the Little Give TV Show, my podcast all about manifesting, and FORCE Magazine, which I founded to inspire and empower others. Along the way, I’ve also become an Action Mastery Specialist and have had the privilege of sharing my journey and insights through speaking engagements.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Of course! My journey has been anything but traditional, and I’m incredibly proud of how far I’ve come. I’m Cindy Witteman—an author, entrepreneur, TV show host, podcaster, speaker, and nonprofit founder. My mission is to inspire, empower, and create opportunities for others through my work.
My path began with a deep desire to overcome personal challenges and turn them into something meaningful. As a single mom struggling financially, I started by focusing on personal development and manifesting a better life. That journey ignited a passion for helping others do the same. I took a leap of faith, formed an LLC, and started building my business, not entirely sure what it would become. My first project was co-authoring a book, and from there, things grew quickly.
Today, my business encompasses multiple facets:
• Books: I’m a 5x best-selling author, with my solo book Beyond the Smile earning international recognition.
• Little Give TV Show: A show dedicated to highlighting people and organizations making a difference in their communities.
• Podcast: Is Manifesting Bullshit?, where I explore the power of mindset and manifestation.
• FORCE Magazine: A platform I created to spotlight good news, inspirational stories, and educational content from individuals and businesses making an impact.
• Action Mastery Specialist: I coach individuals to break through barriers and take decisive action to achieve their goals.
In addition to these ventures, I’m the founder of Driving Single Parents Inc., a nonprofit providing reliable vehicles to single parents in need. This project is especially close to my heart, as it stems from my own experiences as a struggling single mom.
What sets my work apart is its focus on authenticity, relatability, and empowerment. Everything I do is about showing others what’s possible when you believe in yourself and take action. Whether I’m coaching, sharing a story in FORCE Magazine, or speaking at an event, my goal is always to inspire and equip others with tools to succeed.
What I’m most proud of is how my work has created a ripple effect of positivity. From helping single parents regain their independence to inspiring others to overcome their fears, the impact is what fuels me.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the biggest lessons I had to unlearn was the belief that “this is just how everyone lives.” Growing up, we didn’t have much money or financial resources. It was normal for us to go without transportation, or if we did have a car, it wasn’t long before it got repossessed. At the end of the month, we often dealt with the water or electricity being cut off, and even putting food on the table was a struggle.
For a long time, I genuinely thought that was how life was for everyone. After all, I didn’t know anyone who lived differently. Living in trailer houses was the norm where I grew up, and I didn’t know anyone who had a home without wheels. It wasn’t until I started paying attention to the lives of others that I realized there was a better way and that it didn’t have to be that way for me.
This realization came with a lot of curiosity and determination. I started asking people questions, like how they managed to keep their cars or afford nice clothes. I wanted to understand what they were doing differently. At an early age, I adopted the mindset that if I wanted something different, it was up to me to make it happen. I used to repeat the phrase, “If it’s to be, it’s up to me,” and that became my driving force.
Unlearning that belief wasn’t easy because when something is all you know, it’s hard to imagine other possibilities. But once I realized there were other options, I committed myself to finding a way to create a better life. That lesson has stuck with me and shaped everything I do. It’s also why I’m so passionate about sharing opportunities and tools with others because I know firsthand how transformative it can be to realize that life can be different.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
One resource that had a significant impact on my management and entrepreneurial philosophy is the book Leaders Eat Last by Simon Sinek. It really emphasizes the importance of creating an environment where people feel valued and supported, which is a principle I’ve carried into every aspect of my business. The idea that when people feel safe and cared for, they perform better and are more invested in the mission, resonates deeply with me.
I believe it’s crucial to make your team feel like they have a voice in the business and that their contributions truly matter. When people feel they are part of something bigger than themselves, they’re more engaged and inspired to help the business succeed. For me, it’s always been about putting people over profit building genuine relationships with my team and ensuring they know I care about them as individuals, not just as employees.
