Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Cindy Nguyen. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Cindy, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you think folks should manage their own social media or hire a professional? What do you do?
I manage my own social media just because I don’t have the money to hire a specialist, or any employees for that matter. My main platform is Instagram and it’s been growing steadily. It mainly consists of my close circle and other fellow small business owners, but I’ve gained a few loyal supporters! I would suggest for other business owners to be consistent. Post as much as you can and be creative with it. And don’t be afraid to show your authentic self! That’s how you connect to your audience.
Cindy, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I own a small crochet small business called Knots by Nguyen. I sell crocheted goods like bags, sleeves, and hats. I got into crocheting during the pandemic as a hobby and have taken off with it ever since. I want to contribute to sustainable fashion and make it as affordable as possible.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
I’ve found out that the best source of new customers are physical markets like farmers markets! That’s where people can interact with my products, try them on, and chat with me about my business. From there, they refer their friends! One time, a customer bought something from me and messaged me that they wanted another one. Then 2 of their friends wanted to buy from me too!
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Social media and going to as many physical markets as possible helps me grow my client base. On social media, I post a lot of entertaining content as well as advertising content to showcase my products. Being your authentic self is my motto. That’s what people like: being real!
