We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Cindy Longmire a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Cindy, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’re complete cheeseballs and so we love asking folks to share the most heartwarming moment from their career – do you have a touching moment you can share with us?
I have a mobile manicure and pedicure business for individuals that are homebound and have difficulty getting around. I had a wonderful client in the Bartlett Tennessee area. When our paths crossed she was 98 years young. I would visit with her monthly to give her a manicure and hear her sweet precious laugh. Sadly we lost this amazing lady at 103 years young this year. I had the honor and privilege to be with her a couple of weeks before her passing. Every time our visit ended, I felt such an emotional and profound feeling, who gets to spend time with someone that age? How lucky was I. Cindy Longmire

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Your Place Mani Pedi – a mobile manicure & pedicure business for individuals that are homebound or have difficulty getting around. The company was started in 2018. I serve the Memphis metro area. I have always held such a special place in my heart for our Senior population. One of the deciding factors of starting the business, was realizing how big our senior population was and continuing to grow annually. Founded on principles of care and respect. I wanted to be a partner in supporting those that dignity and pride in personal appearance is most important to them no matter their age or mobility. I began networking with Home Health Agencies and Hospice Care Companies, they know who is homebound and would benefit from my home nail services. I have developed strong relationships with these companies, that refer me to their clients/patients. I pride myself in providing these very important services to those that find themselves homebound due to age or disability. Helping Seniors live their best life possible is my mission that I strive for daily.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
One word COVID- it was a very difficult time for all, however when your clients are the elderly and homebound individuals that before COVID already had health concerns, trying to protect myself and them was a challenge every day. But with patience and determination we made it through.

Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
Referrals from my professional peers to their clients/ patients. The Home Health Agencies and Hospice Care Companies that continue to refer me to their clients and patients is one reason my business is growing monthly. Also having a good reputation for being a professional and knowledge of caring for Seniors. My compassion and understanding sets me a part from others in the industry. I make them feel like they matter and are special.
