We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Cindy Christi. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Cindy below.
Cindy, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
Yes, being a media producer and host most of my career, I took lots of risks! In order to bet on myself and my dreams I often had to say “yes I can” before I actually “knew I could”.
Putting skin in the game and committing to see a vision through opened up possibilities that were rare, incredible and exhilarating. I also learned a lot about the flip side of losing skin too.
What I gained in the process of experiencing both was a wealth of experiences that taught me the value of authentically aligned enrollment.
Enrolling myself into a vision is one thing. Aligning with others who also want to see that vision through is where life becomes magical.
When the right team aligns, it’s because of the rapport and trust they feel when the collective mission authentically matches, solves, and inspires THEIR OWN!
“Risk” is also something influencers, public figures and leaders experience every time they step up into the spotlight.
I got a really good taste of how stage fright can rattle self confidence, when I was four.
Before I could read or write, I was fascinated by commercials, jingles and sparkly crowns. I loved performing on camera and on stage and couldn’t wait to become a TV star or beauty Queen one day.
Fast forward to my first televised pageant. I knew all my dreams were about to come true and when they handed me the mic… I said my favorite food was… “beans”!!!! That’s it, one word and I was done!
When the live mic was in front of me, I froze! My dreams were shattered in an instant.
And that wasn’t the only time! I froze again and again… until I eventually figured things out. Why?
Because I had skin in the game and never lost sight of my love for all things that sparkle and storytelling through the media.
Cindy, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
For those who are learning about me for the first time,
My name is Cindy Christi Media Coach to Legacy Makers
I’m also now called the “Queen of Media” and best known for helping heart centric businesses and personal brand builders connect authentically with aligned communities in the event, broadcast, and multimedia space.
As a media coach to national and international title holders, CEOs, Doctors, Speakers, Best Selling Authors, and On-Air Personalities, I’ve learned a LOT about people and not only what makes them but me feel the most confident and at ease on camera.
WHAT I’VE DISCOVERED IS THAT INDIVIDUALS WITH PASSION AND PURPOSE CAN ONLY GO SO FAR WITHOUT A WELL DEFINED MISSION AND MESSAGE, AND THAT BRANDS WITH PERFECTLY POLISHED EXTERIORS WILL FADE WITHOUT CLARITY, VISION, FOCUS AND INTEGRITY.
I also realize that you and I, WE are BRANDS, and we have stories. And if we want to make a difference we NEED the MEDIA and guess what? The media needs us!
My passion now is helping impact driven personal brand builders fall in love with their voice and GET MEDIA READY so that they can confidently step into the spotlight and move mountains for their missions without compromising on their values, faith or what they stand for to get there!
With my “Get Media Ready” 7 Step Process and Legacy Maker Academy, I help creators, influencers and leaders like you define their brand mission and articulate it with clarity and ease so they can lead empowered conversations, secure aligned collaborations, and achieve more aligned yesses!!!
It’s easy and natural to serve them because they have so much to contribute to our world, and because they remind me of me in my earlier years.
My joy in equipping Legacy Makers is found in helping them honor their DNA (driving natural abilities and aspirations), become highly intentional about their contributions and lavishly love themselves in the process of building their legacy in the making.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Great question! So often when we are competing for a title, going on an audition, making a sale or applying for an important position, we invest our energy and focus on proving to ourselves and to others why we are the perfect candidate for the job.
We imagine how great life will be when we…win that title, land that role…close that sale…or achieve that new sparkly status.
We tell ourselves we will do whatever it takes. Role playing in our minds that once we achieve our goal, our lives will be filled with more influence and admiration. And we may even convince ourselves that with this achievement in hand, we will finally be living our potential.
But IF we don’t know our worth, understand our TRUE NORTH: who we are – who we are not – and what it is that we stand for…
…then how can a title, a crown or any level of achievement make us ever feel “enough”?
Examples of extraordinary human beings who have themselves struggled with “feeling enough” include:
Buzz Aldrin
Robin Williams
Elon Musk
JK Rowling
Marylin Monroe
Maybe you have struggled too? I know I have…
I am a media coach, a consultant, an actress, model, spokesperson, National Television Host, and co-author of an International Best Selling Book.
I’ve been the Digital Publisher for a Global start-up focused on the social and economic empowerment of women and girls, Executive Producer and co-founder of Design & Lifestyle TV channel in collaboration with Cox Media and I’ve launched and hosted and produced hundreds of television programs and media campaigns.
I also know first hand, the devastation of the market crash in 2007 with large corporate sponsors closing their doors and leaving me with massive gaps in revenue. I know what it is like to lose my car and my homes while still honoring my production teams, clients and media networks.
I have also served in ministry, I’ve been a caregiver, I’ve been a real estate agent, a waitress, a serial entrepreneur, a straight A scholarship recipient, and a college drop-out…
How much of that defines who I am?
Honestly, ALL of it. IF it is the direct outcome of, OR results in: me knowing my calling and stepping into my purpose…
And NONE of it, if I use any of it to measure or quantify my worth.
I truly believe that our life experiences Qualify us, not Quantify us.
And by Qualifying us I mean that everything we have created, experienced, succeeded or failed in, is what helps shape the qualities IN us that Qualify us to SERVE and THIS is the fruit of resilience.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Yes! I believe there is a unique mission and message inside every person who is called to serve.
Whether we are recording to tape, or to the cloud, whether our TVs are in a box, or the palm of our hands, and whether we close deals through a handshake or an app, the IMPACT of a great story, OUR STORY will stand the test of time.
Our voices and committed acts of service is what becomes OUR LEGACY and the ability to communicate our story effectively IS the difference between a lone ranger standing for a cause and a captivating team leader inspiring collective change.
Having been both the “loner and the leader”, there were a few hard lessons I learned, unlearned and then learned from along the way:
Lesson 1: Pursuing a shiny object without an end game is sure to END the game.
Lesson 2. I can’t outrun, out give or out perform God.
Lesson 3. To win my race, I need to slow down and build something that lasts.
The pursuit of personal ambition had me running in circles and eventually turned what I thought were my playgrounds into my prisons.
Laying them all down to pursue my calling and purpose is what ultimately led me to create Legacy Maker Academy…an incubator for dreams “that last”.
But these lessons didn’t come easy.
I had to tackle my own Brilliance Barriers:
Barriers so simple and sneaky, that when dismissed, can silently undermine and even silence the most compelling and transformative stories from ever being told.
…and yet, so powerful that when embraced, we all RISE & SOAR!
It doesn’t matter how driven, brilliant, accomplished, or connected we are…or how many formulas for success we have, NONE of these matter if ANY of these Brilliance Barriers rear their heads.
I share what these are and how to overcome them in My Million Dollar Manifesto training.
A free training I offer on my app designed to help YOU to provide the media and marketplace with what they are craving.
What’s in it for you?
The clarity, joy and validation that you and your mission
deeply matter, that YOUR voice is needed and the satisfaction that comes from finally kicking “Imposter Syndrome” to the curb!
Access the workbook and video training by downloading the Legacy Maker Academy App today. I promise, it will forever serve your legacy!
