We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Cinderella De groot a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Cinderella, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?

What my parents did was give me the seeds of independence and self-reliance. They taught me how to work, save money for myself, make healthy choices about what I spend it on – all things which have helped form who I am today! They helped me see that problem solving is a process, and the more independent you are in your own life’s decisions-the better off things will be for yourself overall. These are the things that I learned from my experience. Firstly, it allowed me to stand on my own two feet and be proactive in life which led to traveling around the world successfully starting up businesses; secondly-this taught curiosity because you never know what will happen until trying something new!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

After many years of collecting knowledge, wisdom and experiences, The House of Light, Spiritual Center of Inner Healing, was born. Me and my husband became an Entheogenic Church that provides products, services, activities and retreats based on a variety of holistic healing methods. We offer plant medicine ceremonies, energy and sound healing, art therapy, hiking, coaching, and women’s circles, among other things.

Our goal is to help their clients achieve physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. We believe that everyone has the potential for inner healing and growth, and their goal is to help people on their journey to wholeness.

Mental health problems and trauma, like PTSD, anxiety and depression, is often stored in the subconscious and energy body, causing us to feel stuck and disconnected from our true selves. However, plant medicine can help us to release trauma and connect with our innermost selves. By working with a plant medicine practitioner, we can begin to understand the traumas that are holding us back and start the process of release. The plants act as allies, helping us to access hidden parts of ourselves and heal on a deep level. In addition, plant medicine can help us to connect with our spiritual side and remember our connection to all of life. By working with plant medicine, we can begin the journey of healing and reclamation.

Based on the teachings of indigenous people, one of the plant medicines the church uses is rapé, a powder made from tobacco and other sacred plants, to facilitate a deeper connection with the spirit world. The rapé is blown into the nostrils of participants, who then enter into a state of prayer and meditation. The experience is said to bring about a sense of peace and unity with the natural world. By using these traditional medicines, the church provides a space for people to reconnect with nature and their own spirituality.

Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?

Resilience, self belief, proactivity, and working intentionally from the heart. I wake up every day with joy to start my workday. You might think that this can’t be true, but it is! I am my own boss, create projects and serve the community in ways that I am passionate about. I feel like I am divinely guided and trust the divine timing of things. Together with my partner we can complement each other and lift each other up when needed.

We’d love to hear about you met your business partner.

I met my business partner on Instagram and initially we set up a meeting to discuss collaboration. We ended up merging our businesses together and turning it into a non-profit entheogenic church, but we also got married after a few months we met each other, bought property and moved counties. All is possible when you believe and go after your dreams.
