I began my professional career as a Registered Nurse which expanded over 30 years in multiple healthcare disciplines with experience in clinical and leadership roles. My passion for caring for the sick led me to my next professional calling, serving my country. As a combat veteran with over 20 years of experience, I provided lifesaving care to soldiers both stateside and overseas. I served honorably and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2014 after 22+ years of service. Serving in the military has been one of my most rewarding life accomplishments and the experiences I gained gave me the courage to pursue my next professional goal and passion, owning my own business. As a catering and food hobbyist, I decided to purchase a charcuterie franchise named Graze Craze, located in North Boca Raton, Fl where our mission is to create memorable experiences through beautifully curated culinary delights using farm-fresh products and house-made ingredients.
At Graze Craze, we create a variety of products and services centered around the art of crafting charcuterie boards where our main focus is on Celebrating Everything. We pour our hearts in creating boards using the highest quality artisanal meats and cheeses accompanied by fresh fruits and vegetables, gourmet crackers and breads along with made from scratch dips and spreads. We specialize in catering services, tasting events, and charcuterie classes.
Graze Craze stands out for its ability to address numerous customer needs. Firstly, convenience is paramount. We specialize in crafting made-to-order charcuterie boards, ensuring that entertaining and celebrating become effortless endeavors. With our wide array of food offerings, customers can indulge in a diverse spectrum of flavors and textures in one convenient package. Each board is meticulously assembled by hand, guaranteeing a presentation that exudes elegance and sophistication. Moreover, we readily accommodate various dietary preferences and restrictions. Our charcuterie boards serve as exquisite gifting options for special occasions or corporate events. Additionally, our tasting events and charcuterie classes provide exceptional opportunities for corporate team building, ladies’ nights, and more.
Launching my own charcuterie business stands as one of my greatest achievements. This endeavor allows me to exhibit my entrepreneurial drive, culinary skills, creativity, and commitment to community engagement. It has been a catalyst for personal development while facilitating memorable experiences for my customers. In 2022, I embarked on an exciting journey by purchasing Graze Craze, a national franchise specializing in crafting exquisite charcuterie boards and boxes. At Graze Craze, we take pride in showcasing premium meats, cheeses, fruits and accompaniments with meticulous attention to detail and creative flair. Our commitment to using only the highest quality ingredients sets us apart in the industry, as we aim to create unforgettable culinary experiences with farm-fresh products and house-made ingredients.
Buying into a franchise seemed like the perfect balance of independence and support, allowing me to pursue my entrepreneurial dream while benefiting from a proven business model and an established brand. Beyond that, having access to trusted suppliers, comprehensive marketing and advertising support, promising growth opportunities and exclusive territorial rights made it an opportunity I couldn’t pass up.
Working with a franchise broker was pivotal in guiding me through all the steps. It began with extensive research into various franchise opportunities, weighing in factors like reputation, financial stability and growth potential and Graze Craze was the perfect fit. Once I submitted my application to the franchisor, the real work began; reviewing my personal finances alongside the franchise disclosure document, seeking legal counsel, and negotiating terms to ensure a mutually beneficial agreement.
With the paperwork sorted and the deal sealed, the journey continued with comprehensive training, scouting site location, build out oversight, staff hiring and stocking up on equipment and inventory. I couldn’t be prouder of the decision I made. It’s become more than just a business venture; it’s testament to passion, perseverance, and the power of a well-executed plan.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
The pivotal moment in my life came when I made the decision to shift gears, moving from a three-decade career as a Registered Nurse to becoming the owner of my own charcuterie business. This transition has been nothing short of a deeply personal journey—a journey marked by rediscovery, ignited passion, and a profound reinvention of self.
For over 30 years, nursing was more than just a profession; it was my life’s calling. It shaped my identity, filling my days with purpose and created bonds that ran deep with patients and fellow healthcare professionals alike.
Leaving behind the familiar comforts of the healthcare world for the uncharted territory of entrepreneurship was a leap into uncertainty. There were moments of doubt, questioning whether I was making the right choice. Yet, as I continued down this path, I found a newfound sense of creativity and purpose.
The attention to detail that defined my nursing practice seamlessly transitioned into the world of crafting charcuterie boards. Each arrangement became a canvas for expression, blending flavors and textures with precision and care.
Moreover, owning my own business has allowed me to create connections within my community.
