We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Cierrah Beltran a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Cierrah, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
The idea of starting my own photography business was definitely in the works for me for quite some time. I was familiar with cameras in my teenage years owning digital ones and I was also in yearbook in high school, I first purchased my own camera at the age of 21. It was a hobby I was always intreated in. I started with taking photos of friends and family, and those I captured would always boost me up, and tell me I should start my own photography business. I then started my little family which I then put a pause on my photography goals to focus on motherhood. I would from time to time pick up my camera to capture their littles milestones. My children Theo and Mia were definitely a big motivation to start my business. Capturing their little milestones were something I knew I wanted to keep forever with me and look back on. I felt if I could capture these beautiful moments in motherhood and their childhood for myself then I could definitely capture for others in their special moments they want to keep forever too. Once I took that leap of faith in promoting my business on social medias and stayed consistent with promoting I knew those sessions I would offer would eventually start filling up and as time went on with more practice and continuous growth I knew pure aesthetics photos was going to be successful. As a small business owner we have our slow days and we have our busy days but I try not to find that discouraging. As long as you put love into the business for growth you will be notice and attract those clients that want to work with you. And all that growth is what keeps me excited to put love into pure aesthetics photos.
Cierrah, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hi! My Name is Cierrah Beltran owner of Pure Aesthetics Photos. I am going on year 2 of photography. I’ve always had a love for the photography world and finally took a leap of faith after capturing many milestones for my children and close family and friends. The push to start my own business came from the warm feeling I created for myself on looking back on the photos I captured and with that uplift I felt that if I could create this feeling and memories for myself that I could do that for others and that defiantly was a help in starting this business. I also cant forget the amazing support and uplift from my family and friends and especially from my amazing husband James, He’s truly pushed me the most to create this business and has held down the fort for our little family as I go create sessions for clients and needing to edit and whatever other love I put into pure aesthetics photos. I capture and focus on life style photography, maternity, couples, solo/self love, milestones. I have a love for any type of session that can be created. I love to see the idea a client has and see us both create the session they envisioned and it come to life. From time to time I’ve crossed paths with clients that feel as though they may be shy or feel awkward in front of the camera and of course you never want your clients to feel that way with you. I would like to think I’ve helped clients open up during our sessions to give their authentic self in their photos and also feel comfortable during the session we are creating. And most of the time those clients that have made those first few comments about being shy or awkward once they get back their gallery from me they are so shocked and in love with their session and to me that is one of my proudest moments in this business. I myself take some time to warm up Infront of the camera so I definitely understand the feeling. Were all human but I want my potential clients to know that I will always be here to hype you up and make sure we create those beautiful candid moments that you’ll always want to keep close and look back on.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I have to give a big thank you to social media. Instagram, Facebook, and tik tok has definitely been a great reach to bring in potential clients. Its a perfect way to share your portfolio and connect with followings. To also get personal and let clients know who you are before booking. I also have love for connecting with other photographers using socials. Community over competition is so great for businesses like these.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
An effective strategy for growing pure aesthetics photos I would say is definitely giving my genuine self on social media platforms, Capturing reels of behind the scenes, content of my work, and introductions on who I am behind the camera has helped me reach more clientele and has made clients feel more comfortable on knowing who I am and what I am capable of creating for them.
