We recently connected with Cierra Lynn and have shared our conversation below.
Cierra , appreciate you joining us today. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
I honestly feel like the evolution of my brand was all a risk. In 2012, I was laid off from teaching art. After countless interviews and feeling defeated looking for employment, I took the biggest risk. I risked my time and saved finances after being laid off to bet on myself.
Not knowing what the future held financially, yet alone the next week or month I remained consistent. I remained consisted with showing up. I created items daily. I created a website and participated in various pop- up shops. I re- invested profits from sales back into the business.
Years later with a growing platform, services and clientele, the risks paid off. Had I not took the risk and first believed in myself and remained consistent, I would not be where I am today. Through the ups, downs, losses and gains taking that risk was the best decision I ever made.
Cierra , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I have always been an artist and creative. I create empowering illustrations, wearable art, and home decor to boost self esteem, self expression and mental wellness.
My brand is primarily for women and girls. I love to infuse affirmations in most of my creations.
My brand was birthed out of hardship. After being laid off I decided to take matter into my own hands and became an entrepreneur. I started with tees, accessories and custom pieces. My brand Cierra Lynn LLS has grown tremendously.
.
I have expanded to empowering bathroom murals, body art, empowerment journals, home decor and even edible art.
Have you ever had to pivot?
One of the most pivotal times in my career is when I unexpectedly became a caregiver to my mom.
Being an entrepreneur is hard. Single motherhood is hard. Being a caregiver was hard. I had to balance all 3 with little to no or very inconsistent help.
Although balancing all 3 had to be the most difficult thing in my life, I learned a very valuable lesson.
The lesson I learned was that you must make your mental health a priority. Despite what curve balls life may throw, prioritizing your mental health is key.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I built my tribe on social media from staying true to who I am. I believe that the best way for your audience to connect with you is from you being authentic. The way you speak, your tone, your sense of humor, your style and the services you provide should always reflect who you are genuinely.
