We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Cierra Garcia a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Cierra , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We believe kindness is contagious and so we’d love for you to share with us and our audience about the kindest thing anyone has ever done for you?
I have a wonderfully kind and generous client that has been coming to me since the beginning. She has introduced me to so many amazing and generational women in her family who also come see me. She is a nurse and is in school to be an NP, so when we see eachother we have so much to catch up on. For me, the kindest thing came from her when she was given an access code for Taylor Swifts added US tour dates for 2024, where she purchased ME a ticket to come join her in New Orleans. She said, “you’re the biggest Swiftie I know, so let’s go!” I just couldn’t believe she would get an extra ticket for me when she could take anyone else. So needless to say, we are going to be having the Swiftiest Halloween weekend in New Orleans October 2024 singing our hearts out together.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I got into the Esthetics industry by fluke. I have always cared for and loved all things skin and staying forever young. I didn’t realize there was a profession out there for me to specialize in this area; I only knew of a cosmetologist. So once I heard that schooling is quick, affordable and comprehensive I was all in. After school, I had a very limited schedule between juggling young school aged children so right away I decided to go into business for myself, and it has steadily grown since. I offer several areas of services between lashes, skin, waxing, brows and teeth. I truly only offer services I thoroughly enjoy so it makes my days so fulfilling seeing my client friends and doing what brings me joy. The main thing I would want potential clients and followers to know is that they are welcome, they’ll receive me at my best to give them an astounding service and we’ll always have genuine, plentiful conversation.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
During the 2020 COVID pandemic, a lot of us in the beauty business/small business had no idea what was going to come and what our industry was going to look like during this period. In Arizona we had a quick shutdown which allowed me to explore alternative methods of selling, expanding communications, growing social media, concentrating on weak points in my business and future goal setting. I know for me, my business didn’t only sustain the COVID hardship but flourished into the best year to date at that time. I had to think on my toes and go through trial and error to make sure what I built wasn’t going to fail during this unknown time. My resilience allowed me to persevere; failure was not an option.

Have you ever had to pivot?
A time I had to pivot in my life was in the end stages of my professional career as a Catering Director in the hotel hospitality industry. I had two young kids, I was burnt out with the nights, weekends and holidays required to sustain an event coordinating position. I felt like I was living to work, and it really propelled me into considering alternatives to work in my passions, and that is where my esthetic path was born.
