We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Cierra Davis. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Cierra below.
Alright, Cierra thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
The SparkleBrat name came from my music and the doll trend. I wrote a song in late 2019 called “Sparkling”. The song basically is about looking good being a baddie with the hair, nails done and jewelry on. Brats as everyone know are the more urban and hip version of the barbies. Very cute and fashionable. I love sparkle so I refer to the beauty of my nails as something flashy and dazzling like something sparkly. So I put them together and created SparkleBrat.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Cierra but I go by Cece. I’m a South Floridian from Broward and mother of two boys. I’ve always been artistic it’s in my blood lol. My mom, brother and sister are all talented with drawing. So I feel like eventually I knew I’d fall into the field of arts and crafts eventually. The whole deciding to become a nail tech came from me just always doing my nails as a hobby. Seeing how nails were building up a lot of traction again and was becoming even more profitable drew me to the field. However even though I loved the artistry of doing nails I became more interested in press ons.
The thing that makes me or will make me stand out from others who do press ons is that I will have a wide variety of nail styles including toes. More variety of lengths as well and all nails are handmade. Also a factor that makes me stand out is that I offer long wear nail application as a service. Which basically is applying the nails with acrylic. I want SparkleBrat Nail Co. to grow and expand and become a household name in the press on game.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I had a pretty good upbringing for the most part as a child. I’m very family oriented. Although I had a caring family like most young girls i was looking for love in all the wrong places. I initially went to school for surgical technology while I was working as a cna. I took the exam the first time and failed by 3 points. I paused retaking the test because I started having my babies. My kids father left and I ended talking to a guy already in prison. Long story short I got in some trouble and had to do some time. It felt like the end of the world for me career wise. I went through depression and anxiety over it but there was no one to blame for my choices but me. Even though I was going through the motions I pushed through with the help of my family and friends. My grandma actually was the one who introduced me to the idea of entrepreneurship. I didn’t give up and I’m proud of myself cause here I am now as a owner of my own nail shop or as I like to say boutique business.

Does your business have multiple or supplementary revenue streams (like a ATM machine at a barbershop, etc)?
My business is still in its early stages .Life was lifing for a little minute but I’m still invested in it. Right now my business is just online but I have plans ti generate multiple streams of income with it. One way is to get my own press on nail vending machine in my local mall. Second way would be to go around to vending events. Third way is going to build my own little shop on my family property. So the multiple streams of income are definitely in the making. They loading… lol.
