We recently connected with Ciarra Bryson-Welch and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Ciarra, thanks for joining us today. Being a business owner can be really hard sometimes. It’s rewarding, but most business owners we’ve spoken sometimes think about what it would have been like to have had a regular job instead. Have you ever wondered that yourself? Maybe you can talk to us about a time when you felt this way?
Being happy as a business owner is really what you feel when you get to have a spur idea at 2am. It’s one of the best things I’ve created for myself because it’s allowed me to offer something I’m passionate about to the world. I don’t always feel happy, sometimes it’s stressed, tired, over worked, 24/7 kind of job. However the happiness comes when you have those reflecting freeway drives and your dream is coming to fruition.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Hi I’m Ciarra Bryson, I’m currently in my late 20s on a journey of food and desserts. Im a culinary school graduate from Iowa Culinary Institute. I’m also an award winning cake decorator. Cooking has been a main building block my entire life. I started by being in the kitchen with my aunt and unlce at a young age, then by 6th grade I’d make cupcakes every weekend. By the end of high school I was pretty set on the path of my passion I wanted to embark on. After graduating I wanted to get more into desserts because it was way more fun than cooking. Making sweets with endless colors and design is what keeps me obsessed with my job everyday! Bake Sale Customs was created in 2018 to bridge the dreams to the need of others. Making memories with each bite is what I live by because 9/10 times there’s always some staple event that requires desserts. I love taking any idea and helping my clients create what’s best for their event down to color scheme, custom flavors, and design. That’s what sets me apart is breaking down every wall to every aspect of what is your dream vision and having it come to life with desserts. I’m proud of Bake Sale Customs everyday for making sweet memories for people and growing to where it is today! We’re 5 years in which has taken a lot of late nights, self taught YouTube videos, trial and errors. Every customer lets me know we have something special and to never give up on my dream.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Experiencing 2021 for my business was almost near death. People weren’t having parties or gatherings which is the setting of most needs for my specific products. It was a lot of determination to not give up when there weren’t steady orders for what seemed like two years. Now that life is coming back to a sense of normalcy business has been better than ever but it was hard a lot of time trying to see the light.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Great quality and good tasting food/sweets goes a long way! Word of mouth is really how we got off the ground running, one person raving about your product creates a spiderweb of support and business.
