Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ciara Mckinzy. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Ciara, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Before we talk about all of your success, let’s start with a story of failure. Can you open up about a time when you’ve failed?
When I first started my business in 2014, what I I believe to be a failure was miss management of the money that came in, and not knowing how to invest it back into the business not really being able to source the products like I needed to, in order to see a profit. And intern due to the miss management of the funds that were coming in and not sourcing the right product, not being able to find, good quality inventory at affordable prices which did make my business suffer in the end.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Ciara and I am the owner of Ciara Jonee’ we are an online women’s clothing boutique that offer everyday pieces for the everyday woman. We strive to provide excellent quality pieces that are comfortable and functional for the woman that does everyday things. When I restarted my business and 2017, I had in mind moms, but not only moms women in general I know at times we feel guilty for doing things for ourselves. We feel guilty for buying ourselves clothing or getting her hair done or our nails done I know for myself sometimes I feel like I’m being selfish if I’m not doing for others are doing for my children and if I do by myself something I often feel guilty that I spent too much can we afford this etc. and that’s when I knew I wanted to start my boutique based on affordability based on women being able to shop for themselves get comfortable items that are also very cute very trendy, but are within a budget so where they do not have to feel guilty for shopping with me. Because buyers remorse is a real thing and I never want my customers to feel that way. Here at Ciara Jonee’ we want our customers to know that is more than just settling down clothing. It’s about us building a relationship with them and want them to be comfortable want them to know that it’s okay to treat theirselves do something nice.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I believe the thing that helps build a reputation within my market would be the affordability of our pieces and the amazing quality and confidential will receive. I’m always tell my customers that they can’t really see that I care about my business by the way that we exchanged our emails by the way, but I am always thinking and letting them know that I appreciate the support That I received from them and how we strive to make sure we’re putting out the best of the best without charging an arm and a leg.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Social media is really tricky for me some days I have to remember to post or schedule my post for social media but recently we just grew our TikTok page to over 10,000 followers and it was simply from me just being myself in front of the camera showing the stretch of our items and how amazingly comfortable they are. I think that’s what it’s about finding your target audience and just really showing them who you are you don’t necessarily have to always follow trends but trends do help to a certain extent with growing on social media but I will definitely say being yourself is the main thing that will help you grow and making sure you’re targeting your audience.
