Chynna, appreciate you joining us today. So, let’s imagine that you were advising someone who wanted to start something similar to you and they asked you what you would do differently in the startup-process knowing what you know now. How would you respond?

I appreciate the opportunity to reflect on what I’ve learned through my entrepreneurial journey and how I would approach starting over today.
Having built two companies, a loungewear company, and launching products like my prayer journal Selah on Amazon, I’ve gained valuable insights that I’m currently applying to my new venture that will be launching in Winter 2024.
I’ve gained insights into what works and what doesn’t. If I were to start over today with all the knowledge I’ve acquired, here’s how I would set things up more efficiently:
1. Audience Ownership: One of the most critical lessons I’ve learned is the importance of owning your audience. Whether it’s through an email list, SMS marketing, or newsletters, having direct access to your customers is invaluable. I would prioritize building and nurturing these channels from day one. It’s not just about acquiring customers but also retaining them and fostering long-term relationships.
2. Community Building: Building a community around your brand is key to success. People need to feel connected to your brand like they’re part of something meaningful. I would invest time and effort in creating a strong, engaged community. This involves actively listening to their feedback, addressing their needs, and fostering a sense of belonging.
3. Trust and Credibility: Trust is the foundation of any successful business. I would work diligently to establish trust with my audience by delivering on promises, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining transparency in all my business dealings. Consistency and reliability are key factors here.
To summarize, if I were starting over today, I would put a significant focus on audience ownership and community building. These elements are foundational to success in the entrepreneurial world, and I’ve learned that they can significantly impact the growth and sustainability of a business. I’m excited to apply these lessons in my new venture and look forward to the journey ahead.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
A significant lesson I had to unlearn was the belief that someone else is responsible for ensuring I lead a life I genuinely love. In the past, I often found myself pointing fingers at external factors or blaming others for not being further along in life. I used to think that if only certain circumstances had been different, perhaps having grown up in a two-parent household or if my father hadn’t been in prison, I would have achieved my first million by now.
However, over time, I came to realize that this perspective was holding me back. I understood that waiting for external conditions to change or for someone else to pave the way for me was not a sustainable or empowering approach to life. It was a pivotal moment when I decided to take full responsibility for my own life.
From that point forward, I decided it was time to consult with God to see what he had in mind when he created me then
I began actively putting my faith and work together shaping the life I desired. This shift in mindset and faith has been transformative. It has allowed me to make choices, set goals, and take actions that have led to continuous personal growth and progress. By accepting that the power to create a life I love rests within God, I’ve witnessed my life consistently improving in ways I once thought were beyond my reach.
This unlearning process has not only been liberating but also a testament to the goodness of God. we all possess to shape our destinies, regardless of our starting point or past circumstances. It’s a lesson that has enabled me to embrace personal responsibility and embrace the journey of self-discovery and empowerment.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I believe several key factors have contributed to building my reputation within the various markets I operate in. First and foremost, it’s been my consistent ability to execute and demonstrate the validity of my ideas and strategies. Actions speak louder than words, and being able to deliver tangible results has undoubtedly played a significant role in earning the trust and respect of my clients and peers.
Furthermore, my genuine interest in helping people and fostering their personal and professional growth has been instrumental. I approach each interaction with authenticity and a sincere desire to assist others in creating lives they love. Whether it’s helping individuals design fulfilling lifestyles or guiding creatives and visionaries in building brands they are passionate about, my commitment to their success shines through in my work.
Additionally, my capacity to connect with people on a personal level has been a valuable asset. Building strong relationships, listening to the needs of my clients, and understanding their unique challenges have allowed me to tailor my services and strategies effectively. These connections have not only led to fruitful collaborations but have also resulted in word-of-mouth referrals and positive testimonials, further enhancing my reputation.
