We were lucky to catch up with Chyna Krystelle “YourFavNoLabel” recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Chyna Krystelle thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
My parents always looked on the brighter side of things and stayed optimistic. No matter what obstacles they faced, they did it with a smile, grace and faith. They made a number of sacrifices and never gave up. Being a witness to that for my whole life helped a great deal with my life and career path. When I started my business, I thought about who would support me, how would they support me and etc. There were times that I felt like giving up, but I thought about them and what they’d do. I got to a place and accepted the fact that God would send the right people in my path to help my business grow, as well as help me grow in the business.

Chyna Krystelle, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
When it comes to my fashion, my parents weren’t big on buying name brand clothing. They would get it from time to time, but it wasn’t an all the time thing. So before it was popular, thrifting was a big part of my life. I learned then that the clothes didn’t make me, but I made the clothes. My friends and family always wanted me to style them. That’s when the stylist in me came to life. Years later after going through some personal stuff and losing myself, I regained my confidence in front of the camera. People always said I should model, but I didn’t believe them. After some time I became more comfortable and decided that was another way to show not only myself, but my sense of style. Another turn came when I started tampering with different ways to brand myself and my unique sense of style. This in turn brought me to designing my own clothing line. People started to ask me where I got my clothes and wanted to buy my brand. I figured the best way to document my success was taking pictures. Of course I could have myself in them, but I decided to go behind the camera and take pictures of other people in my brand. Everything I love and that brought me back to myself is working out for me in more ways than one.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My mission is to let everyone know that it’s ok to be different and go after your dreams. You don’t have to follow the crowds or trends to be popular and get where you want to be. The right people will see you and gravitate towards you for just being you. Not only that, but things will never happen over night. Everything I’m doing has been growing within me over the years. It took me some time to realize what it was I am meant to do. As bad as I wanted things right when I wanted it, it wasn’t the time for me to have it. If you rush the process you’ll never get exactly what you’re meant to have.

We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
I make them all feel like my number one priority. Not in a gimmicky kind of way, but as though I only work with them and no one else. I want one everyone to feel like they have special treatment even when they know they are not the only one’s I’m working with. I send all of my clients new designs and/or deals on products before posting them to social media. I want them to know that I appreciate their belief in me and what I do.
