We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Chucki Love. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Chucki below.
Chucki, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you tell us about a time that your work has been misunderstood? Why do you think it happened and did any interesting insights emerge from the experience?
I think one of the biggest misunderstandings when it comes to who I am and what I do artistically is exactly what is it that I do. The best way to generalize me is simply that I’m an artist and I don’t want to be confined into a box. I will say I’m an actor and comedian.. primarily. I performed in my first stage play in preschool (however old that is) and I did my first stand-up at 17 years old for my high school in East Atlanta. I’ve been producing music since 20, singing and playing guitar, so to this day, when I’m asked what I do, I usually respond with whatever phase of creativity I’m currently energetically in and right now I’m in my guitarist/comedian phase.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Absolutely. I’m alot haha.. but like I said before, I’m an actor and comedian. I’m also a guitarist with “Hollywood” credits as a writer and Film/TV Producer. I acted as comic relief in my first feature film 10 years ago now, and from there, I moved to Los Angeles. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Los Angeles Film School in Hollywood while doing stand-up comedy, performing in local plays, and working as an executive producer for an A-List movie producer where I co-produced my first feature film for both Netflix and Amazon Prime.
I believe what sets me apart is my upbringing in Atlanta, my God-given gifts as an artist, and my life experiences both personally and professionally. The industry is typically, “you’re one or the other” but I’m both, attached with an unique point of view. So with that, I’m currently withdrawn from the behind the camera work as I’m currently focused on my first music EP and accompanying stand-up routine. You can check me out and follow my journey through my social network links for updates on it all.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Maybe it’s selfish, but it is my mission to create and entertain quality art that resonates with people and lead people to new plateaus, whether that’s to fresh thoughts or behaviors. I’m driven in the moment to reach my personal goal of performing unique, original art on stage, in front of a gigantic crowd, and receiving acknowledgement that my art is well appreciated and I’m understood as a human. Selfish, I know lol.
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I can’t say that I wish I knew about certain resources because the internet and social media was just not a thing when I was younger… (and much more raw haha), so there was nothing to be aware of, however, I wish that it was thing back then. I’d believe I’d be a lot more known as I was much more active as a comedian and there just weren’t so many “content creators”. I do wish to be around more talented creatives in hopes to learning and creating with them these days. However, I do believe that everything happens when God says and that’s why my first EP and live comedy show is called “Later Than Sooner”, because I feel that’s what I’m bringing to the industry, my timing is better now than back then as I’ve learned a ton and matured, which in turn will make my art more distinctive from everyone else.
