We recently connected with Chuck Doyle (aka ‘Coffee Cup Chuck’) and have shared our conversation below.
Chuck, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Is there a historical figure you look up to? Who are they and what lessons or values have you learned from them?
I’d have to say Napoleon Hill. While incarcerated back in 2007 I was given a book to read from another inmate by the author entitled ‘Think & Grow Rich’. The book taught me that if I wanted to change my life, I only needed to change my mindset. After reading the book several times over and over again, I finally caught on to the messages and the process of my thinking switched from a negative, non believing attitude, to a more positive, “I can do this”, state of mind. This book eventually lead me to reading other books of the same caliber. By changing my thinking, I was able to turn my life completely around. Because of the book ‘Think & Grow Rich’, I was later able to form an investment group composed of 13 other people with 8 of the members already being business owners. And because of the knowledge acquired from the idea spoken by Napoleon Hill about the power of the mastermind association we are currently making life changing investment decisions.
Chuck, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hello world!! I am a very interesting person that would only benefit you to know. I’ve come from humble beginnings and have definitely overcome a movie full of events, yet I stand here blessed and resilient. I am definitely an ambitious winner. I love to surprise people with my inner light and I love to spread my positive soul and insight. First off, I am part owner in an electrical/lighting company called Lumenus Technologies. Lumenus Technologies offers electrical lighting services to the Kansas City, Kansas and Missouri metro areas. We own and operate several bucket trucks so we are able to reach heights the normal person couldn’t reach. We also specialize in sign repair and LED upgrading. (Secondly) I am the founder of an Investment Group called ‘TAMIC’ (The American Mastermind Investment Club). At TAMIC, our mission is to help create financial wealth between its members by assisting in the growth of our communities by helping in the creation of business ideas and real estate/land development. (Thirdly) I am the creator of a morning blog on Facebook/Instagram/Linkedin entitled, ‘The First Cup KC’, the host of an inspiring podcast on YouTube called ‘The First Cup KC’ and currently in process of writing about one of the most inspiring autobiography stories you will most likely ever read. My only direction is forward and my biggest passion has grown into helping motivate those that need to be reminded that we get what we want only when we believe we can acquire it. I absolutely love people♥️♥️
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Growing up I always found myself in some kind of trouble. At the very young age of only 15 years old I was found guilty of 2 felony crimes and sentenced to prison for the crimes. I was the youngest inmate in the Nebraska prison system at the time but instead of learning my lesson the first time, It would eventually take me several more visits to prison to finally get it. I simply changed my mind set. After changing all of my bad habits to good habits and indulging in as much positive content as possible my life slowly turned into a mega success story for my family and friends.
Have you ever had to pivot?
One day while out working at a job site for my last employer, I had the pleasure of having the bossman pull up on me unannounced. He never got out of his car. He just pulled up, rolled the windows down and said he wanted to speak to me for a minute. I obliged. He told me that he had heard from several sources that I was intending on starting my own lighting business like his. Although it had only been a thought prior and only something years out from happening, I simply responded by saying, “It takes money that I don’t have, it takes good credit that I don’t have, with a clean record that I don’t have and definitely will require a bunch of influence. “ He looked at me with this look of relief and replied with, “You’re right. Sorry I bothered you with this.” He then rolled his window back up and drove off. In that very same moment I realized that I was the one who mumbled off those words. I then realized that I was the only person holding me back. From that point forward I worked myself into a company of my owns and much more.
