Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Chuck & Becky Newman. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Chuck & Becky, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s jump right into how you came up with the idea?

Becky: As a little girl, I was always looking through my parent’s wedding album, marveling at the pictures of my mother in her beautiful wedding dress and my father in his suit. I remember loving the pictures that showed the moments, the connections between people, some that I never met, but because I had these pictures I felt like I knew them. That’s what I wanted for our daughter when she looked at our wedding photos and film.

Chuck: My parents wedding was filmed on Super 8 and show the story of the day and you can see the joy and love they shared with their family. Both of my parents passed before our daughter, Charlotte, was born. This film is a way for her to know them without having ever met them. It keeps their legacy alive. It’s one of my most precious possessions.

Chuck has been involved in film and photography since high school and actually started filming weddings in 1998 before taking a break from the industry in 2008, five years before he and Becky would meet. Becky took photography courses in college and always had need to fill her creative bucket in order to feel truly fulfilled. In 2017, Chuck decided that he wanted to go back into film making and with Becky’s support, Life Captured by CLN was born. What Chuck didn’t know was that Becky was going to follow him and become not only his partner in life, but his partner in business. We immediately fell in love with the story telling style that had drawn us to our parents albums and films and our business grew. We are passionate about our couples and their love stories and are involved in planning their wedding photography and films from the moment we are hired until their albums and films are delivered. Often times, we create such sweet connections with our couples that we get to capture other “firsts” in their lives and that’s what makes what we do so very special to us.

Chuck & Becky, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

We are boutique wedding photography and videography company with the goal of creating a personal relationship with our couples that goes beyond just showing up with a camera on their wedding day. We help with timelines, get a feel for the vibe they want from their photos and films, work with planners, DJs, hair and make up. All of this to ensure their day runs smoothly and they don’t feel rushed. We do a mix of posed and candid images and are often told by our couples that our husbands/wife banter puts them at ease in front of the camera in a way they never thought possible. We value people over price-tag and never want a financial restraint to be what keeps us from working with incredible couples. Our photography and videography style is romantic and timeless.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?

The most effective strategy in growing our clientele has been cultivating our relationships with our couples and other wedding vendors. Besides google, facebook, and instagram, much of our business comes from word of mouth from our past couples. Nothing makes us more excited than hearing that another couple recommended us to them after their experience.

How’d you meet your business partner?

We met on New Years Eve in 2013 at a mutual friends house and the sparks were instantaneous, but it took us six months of flirting and a final shove by a friend for us to go on our first date. After that first date, we were inseparable. Our shared love of all things nerdy, sarcastic senses of humor, and shared love of the arts really cemented our relationship. Now, a decade later, we have a gorgeous home, beautiful daughter, and this amazing business. Our cup is full.
