We recently connected with Chronic E and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Chronic, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
My most meaningful project to date is my first studio album Manifest which dropped September 9th, 2022. Up to that point, I’d been making music for seven years, developing my craft and honing into the skills and potential I along with my day one supporters have always seen in me. Manifest is the embodiment of Chronic E, every mood and every emotion. From party songs, to R&B, to Spanish, and to even dabble in Punk Rock. Aside from this album being the build up over the course of seven years of remixes, singles, & mixtapes, it holds a special place in my heart. The album was released on the birthday of my late father to commemorate the life that I’ve always wanted to provide for my family and I. Along with that, my lucky number is seven so it added some more sentiment to the fact that I released my first studio album on my 7th year of making music. All in all, Manifest is the project that sparked the beginning to the next chapter in my music career.
Chronic, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I used to read poetry as a child which lead me to find a passion in writing. Writing turned into writing raps which I learned to do as an outlet to convey my emotions in a healthy way. A few years into writing raps, after being encouraged by my peers I created a Soundcloud and the rest is history. From there I went on to develop my craft and continue to grow as an artist in every aspect. I believe what sets me out from others is the confidence I carry with myself and within my music, in the sense of being and existing in the reality I’d like to live in. The thing I’m most proud of when it comes to my music is the consistency I’ve maintained all these years to achieve the goals I’ve set for myself. My future goals is to be able to help the world heal through my music as music has done for me. I want the world to know that with music we can make the world a better place. Spreading peace & love and positive energy to all so we can all connect through music, no matter the language.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
From way back when, all the way to this day, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist is knowing that I’ve helped someone get through a tough time in their life. I’ve received messages throughout the years from supporters who’ve told me that my music has gotten them through the darkest of times, and that drives me even more to keep going. To help people the way music has helped me is one of my truest intentions with my music, and knowing that I do just that, brings an incomprehensible joy.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I have a few goals when it comes to making music, but the main goals that drive me is the thought of being able to pay off my mom’s debt, pay her bills, & take care of her so she lives stress free for the rest of her life. Another is making music with every single one of the main 8 artists that influenced me in one way or another, the artists being Drake, J Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Travis Scott, Eminem, Logic, Joey Badass, & Childish Gambino. Lastly, at the end of the road, I want to make sure I made a positive impact on the world and culture with my music and being.
