We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Christy Lynn a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Christy , appreciate you joining us today. Going back to the beginning – how did you come up with the idea in the first place?

As a young teenage girl I had this vision that I would be a star. A star to me was being the person infront of the camera!

But little did I know how important being the person to help create the look was the star!

I created a motto as a young aspiring artist that if limited my skills, I would limit my money!

It was so true. Because after 10 years it began to pay off. I knew that I had a gift and I knew it was a career that would never go away!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

Who is Christy Lynn Hair Artist!

I am a creative in the billion dollar beauty industry! I have been making my way through this journey for the last 13yrs.

As an early artist I practiced the art of womens hair styling. At the age of 21 I stepped outside the box and started working with a Local magazine as their make-up Artist! I actually won best make-up artist in 2012.

Yet I still needed more out of my career. In 2016 Instagram became a lot more popular and that’s where is all began!

I started using social media as my way to connect to the people of the world! The ones you only get to see on television.

Flash forward to 2022 I am now a top celebrity barber/stylist to some of the best athletes, actors, writers, fashion stylist, and musicians in the world!

After all these years of dedication and sleepless nights I stayed focus and mastered my ability to be versatile in a field dominated by men. The world of barbering!

Learning to help those suffering from hair loss by providing hair replacement units has been one of the best parts of the path. Allowing myself to bring someone’s confidence back is amazing!

I also had to learn how to stay strong as a woman and not allow the world to make me feel I was only booked because I have a pretty but more so because I have actual skills.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?

Instagram and word of mouth!

I literally tell people all the time get on social media and move around the room!

It’s like being at an event talk to everyone and tell them where to find you!

And eventually you will make connections that will lead others to you!

Word of mouth travels fast!

Have you ever had to pivot?

A major pivotal moment in my career was booking a major film director. He had just finished filming Creed 2 just give insight on how important this was for myself!

I got the call mid day and was so excited!

But my personal life got in the way! I had gotten into a altercation with my partner that left me with a black eye and busted lip!!

I cried so hard because I had to see the director the next afternoon!

But one thing I did is put on some make up and go! I was so aware that he could see my face. But with confidence o finished the job.

Needless to say. I never booked him again!

But it was in that moment that I knew it was time to change and just as I decided to change my life, my career did too!

I am now “booked & busy” with so many other directors, actors and other talented individuals.

So I say all of that to remind you anything is possible.
