We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Christy Bloodworth a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Christy , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
Omega Support Center started as an outreach program in Stone Mountain, GA, quickly becoming one of the most extensive outreach programs in the 30083,30084 and 30087 zip codes. In 2016, Omega Support Center was rebirthed as a nonprofit organization and continued with community outreach, financial literacy, homebuyers’ workshops, and small business and nonprofit establishment. Christy Bloodworth, the founder of Omega Support Center, started the programs to help teach women how to generate extra income and gain financial stability in their homes and businesses. The center added programs to help meet the community’s needs over the years- and opened the programs to everyone so that entrepreneurs can start, maintain, and scale a business or non-profit.
Omega Support Center recently celebrated its eighth anniversary. It serves over 26,000 residents annually, distributes over 300,000 lbs. of food, and helped establish over fifty businesses and nonprofits in Georgia, Alabama, and Texas.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Christy Bloodworth, founder and Director of Omega Support Center. I have always had a passion for community outreach and the desire to help others gain stability and opportunity with education and resources available. I have had six businesses, all located here in Georgia, and decided in 2016 to rebirth Omega Support Center as a non-profit, small business, and community development center. It was through counseling others that I knew I wanted to pursue my dream of helping others start and enhance their businesses or nonprofits. The Omega Support Center has various programs related to entrepreneurs, financial literacy, small business and nonprofit establishment, senior services, and food distribution.
We believe in meeting clients where they are and providing the education and resources to help them achieve their goals. In helping to create others’ dreams, Omega Support Center continues to create a strong collaborative network of diverse businesses and nonprofits.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
Yes, The E-Myth by Michael E. Gerber. This book set me free from the embedded mentality that ” I must do everything myself.” As small business owners or nonprofit directors, we often feel that it’s easier just to take on any task ourselves and not allow or delegate others to assist, help, or teach us.
As small business owners, we get used to doing things our way. The best thing you can do is receive help, refine it, and learn to scale your business. Work with others and explain the necessary conditions so that you can focus on the administrative or public relations aspect. Once you get solid, I highly recommend reading and implementing the practices set by Mr. Gerber to become more efficient and effective.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I have had six businesses, all start-ups, and while they were all successful when one closed, I moved on to the next thing. One of the best things to learn is that “Life Happens,” and you must grow and evolve with your life. You simply cannot stay the same if you expect to reach your fullest potential.
I have had to endure many changes with death in the family, divorce, children, bankruptcy, and natural disasters. Still, regardless, I don’t let the desire for better be quenched from life’s adversities. KEEP MOVING Forward>
