We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Christopher Thompson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Christopher below.
Alright, Christopher thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
I often say that my parents are the extremes of me. However, one thing that they both instilled in me is to always be a person of good character. I often say that people will remember you for who you are not what you did and respectful people are always respected. As an artist, I’ve always focused on creating the best images I can but I as a person my goal each day is to be a man of faith and someone who always tries to lift people.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
For those who may not know me my name is Christopher Thompson, more commonly known as Click Thompson. I’m one of the top western photographers in the industry. I’ve been photographing western sports such as rodeo and creating commercial content for related brands for twelve years. My background in photography stems from art background. I have Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Virginia State University in graphic design and I have a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Savannah College of Art & Design in Photography. I found the western world in 2011 when I photographed by first Bull Riding in Gordonsville, Virginia. I would say the rest is history but it truly has been a unique and wild ride photographing western events all across the country. I can truly say some of the places I’ve worked in wouldn’t be possible if I wasn’t in this industry. Some of my recent industry accomplishments include being selected as an official photographer of the National Finals Rodeo and last year I was voted by the members of Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association as the Photographer of the Year.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
One story that isn’t as documented in my journey is the transition I made from working as a subcontractor to completely working for myself. I won’t get into all the gory details(LOL) but I had been working a sub contractor for other company that specialized in creating imagery in the western space. At the same time I was also building my brand/business and continuing to grow both as a person and a photographer. Following some work disagreements I was put in a position where a good amount of the money I would make each year would no longer be available to me and that was stressful to say the least. However, what I would soon find is that even though I was shoved off a cliff rather than jumping intentionally It allowed me to become a better version of myself. I became more determined to succeed and It also gave me more ownership over my work. So now every time created a new images it was truly mine and that led to countless new opportunities and achievements. I was thriving not just surviving.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Two things come to mind when I think about my creative journey and how I continue to press forward. One, my goal is always strive to be better each day. But my second thought is one thing that rings in my head constantly is to be great. I feel if you strive to be great each day in your own way, everything else will fall into place. The challenge of greatness it something that you never really achieve because once a new day comes you have to be great again. Also, the pursuit of greatness, though a fantastic endeavor it can be very lonely because only a few truly strive for that.
