Christopher, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you tell us about a time that your work has been misunderstood? Why do you think it happened and did any interesting insights emerge from the experience?
I do find myself being misunderstood/ mischaracterized in a few instances… mostly about my direction in my art. Alot of times people can put you in a box based on their personal preferences and we as a people tend to do that a lot to others even unconsciously so I can’t fault people for not fully understanding. As long as the message resonates with you in whatever shape or form it needs to within your realm that can grow you then that is all that matters. I feel we as artist tend to fall victim to people’s opinion sometimes which needs to be stopped. My main focus is to ensure my intent behind the art I put out is pure so no matter what I am trusting in whatever is to come with. At a point in time, I had no one taking in my art, so now to see my core base start to grow of people actually digesting my art and more… it’s more than I could ever imagine, and I will be forever grateful and will never take this position for granted. Misunderstood or not, my job isn’t to lose myself trying to make you understand me, I’m still learning myself ha-ha…

2benjii’s music gives listeners the bubbly feeling of a fighting spirit. Genres such as Hip-Hop and R&B closely tie in to what 2Benjii’s music shows. With his recently released Studio Album “Truth Be Told” catching high attention, every day he is further cementing his imprint in the musical game by paving his own lane.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The freedom… the freedom to think with no parameters… the freedom to be myself whole heartedly, to be one with my emotions and not limited to anything. It’s a red bull on steroids. (Honest Jokes) but in all actuality the freedom truly is the best part about being an artist.
Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
The number of guts it takes to actually push a dream. If you only knew the things it takes internally to be the best version of you it would make you wonder, why does anyone talk about another version of themselves? If you know you know… appreciate the art while it’s here. It’s expression, not a syllabus. Put more energy into the ones who are putting out a positive energy that is pushing the culture forward, don’t continue to aid the people who are trying to turn this divine energy into a cash game.
