We were lucky to catch up with Christopher Ramirez recently and have shared our conversation below.
Christopher , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
I believe that to be successful, you need to be consistent and prioritize networking. In a world as big and fast-moving as ours, it’s easy to get lost in the crowd, so it’s crucial to build a strong foundation of visibility and connections. Success often comes from people knowing who you are and what you’re capable of offering.
When I was just starting out, I didn’t have much experience in video or photography, but I knew that was the path I wanted to take. My first instinct was to reach out to others in the industry. I introduced myself, shared my goals, and asked if they needed any help. Over a couple of weeks, I must have emailed, called, and messaged 50 to 60 people every week. At first, it felt like nothing was happening, but then things started to click. A few of those people responded, giving me opportunities to learn, refine my skills, and take my first steps toward starting my business.
That experience taught me two key lessons: consistency and relationships are everything. Even now, as someone who films, edits, and runs their business independently, I have to work extra hard to stay connected with new people and opportunities. Whether it’s reaching out to potential clients, maintaining relationships with past collaborators, or staying visible in my field, I’ve learned that success is a constant effort to keep momentum going. It’s not just about talent—it’s about showing up, staying persistent, and building a network of trust and collaboration.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Christopher Ramirez, and I’m a videographer and photographer based in San Antonio, Texas. My journey into this field began in 2004, right after high school, when I pursued my passion for recording music at Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida. I earned an Associate of Science degree in Recording Arts, which gave me a strong foundation in sound and storytelling. After graduating, I returned to San Antonio with the dream of opening my own recording studio. However, as I explored my career path, I found myself feeling a bit lost and uncertain about where to go next.
While I still loved recording music, I gradually became more drawn to the visual world of video and photography. That shift inspired me to move into this new creative space. I started by creating music videos, which allowed me to blend my love of sound with visual storytelling. Over time, my work evolved to include weddings, events, and commercials for small businesses. Each project taught me something new and deepened my appreciation for the art of storytelling.
One of my greatest strengths is my versatility. I’ve had the privilege of working with a wide range of clients, from couples on their wedding day to musicians, corporate event planners, and realtors. This broad experience has given me a unique perspective and the ability to adapt my skills to meet the specific needs of each client. Whether it’s capturing the joy of a wedding, the energy of a live performance, or the professionalism of a corporate brand, I thrive on bringing my clients’ visions to life.
What sets me apart is my hands-on approach. I film, edit, and produce all my work myself, which means I’m deeply involved in every stage of the creative process. This level of involvement allows me to understand each project from beginning to end, ensuring that the final product meets the highest standards of quality. I take pride in delivering work that not only meets but often exceeds my clients’ expectations.
At the heart of what I do is a genuine love for storytelling and a commitment to going above and beyond for my clients. I believe in over-delivering, whether that means spending extra time perfecting a shot or finding creative ways to bring an idea to life. My goal is simple: to do the best possible job and create something my clients will be proud of.
For potential clients, the main thing to know about me is that I’m not just a videographer or photographer—I’m someone who truly cares about your vision and works tirelessly to make it a reality. Whether you’re a couple celebrating a milestone, a business promoting your brand, or an artist sharing your craft, I’m here to help you tell your story in a way that feels authentic and meaningful.
At the end of the day, I love what I do, and that passion drives me to constantly improve, innovate, and deliver work that stands out.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist or creative is the process of crafting a final product that feels like a true work of art. It’s something I’ve chiseled out through countless hours of editing, attention to detail, and storytelling. Each project becomes its own unique creation, shaped by my effort and vision to tell the story in the best possible way from start to finish.
What makes it all worthwhile is sharing that finished product with the world and seeing how it resonates with people. I truly enjoy making others feel strong emotions through my work—whether it’s joy, nostalgia, or inspiration. Those reactions remind me of why I do what I do. As human beings, I believe those moments of connection and emotion are at the core of who we are. To be able to spark that in someone else through my art is an incredible privilege and the ultimate reward.

Alright – let’s talk about marketing or sales – do you have any fun stories about a risk you’ve taken or something else exciting on the sales and marketing side?
I remember the early days of my wedding videography career vividly. In my first year or two, I was struggling to find clients. Despite putting in the effort to market myself and showcase my work, bookings were few and far between. It was frustrating and disheartening, but I knew I had to find a way to break through.
During this time, I had the good fortune of connecting with a wonderful couple who coordinated and planned weddings. They loved my work and would occasionally refer clients my way, which I was incredibly grateful for. However, there was a recurring issue: my prices were often too high for many of the couples they referred, and I just couldn’t close the deals. The inquiries would come, but the bookings weren’t following, leaving me feeling stuck.
That’s when I decided to take a bold step. I created a special wedding package priced at $1,000. It included full-day wedding coverage and a beautifully crafted highlight video. My goal was to make my services more accessible while also building momentum and filling my calendar. I let the wedding coordinators know about the special, and the response was immediate. Word spread quickly, and I started booking weddings for the year at a pace I had never experienced before.
By the end of that year, my calendar was full, and for the first time, I felt like I was truly on the path to success. It was an incredible feeling to know that couples trusted me to capture one of the most important days of their lives. Sure, I was working harder than ever and charging less than I’d ultimately like, but I was gaining invaluable experience, building my reputation, and establishing connections that would carry me forward in my career.
This experience taught me an important lesson about adaptability and the power of investing in long-term success. Sometimes, you have to take a step back and reevaluate your approach to break through barriers. By offering that special, I not only booked clients but also built relationships and trust within the wedding community. It was a pivotal moment that reinforced my belief in the value of perseverance and the willingness to take risks.
Looking back, it wasn’t just about the bookings—it was about gaining momentum and confidence. That year marked the slow and steady climb toward the career I have today, and I’ll always be grateful for the couples who took a chance on me and helped me build the foundation for my business.
