We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Christopher Nemeth a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Christopher, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
Working for others in the skincare industry was a good experience—it taught me so much about different techniques, products, and client care. But deep down, I knew I had to forge my own path and follow my passion. I wanted the freedom to create something uniquely mine, where I could focus on the personalized care I felt was often missing in larger salons.
The idea for Come and Glo came from my desire to do more than just treat skin concerns—I wanted to create an experience where clients leave glowing not only on the outside but on the inside as well. The name reflects that transformation. Yes, they leave with radiant skin, but more importantly, their confidence is restored, and they feel like the best version of themselves.
I knew this was a worthwhile endeavor because of the connections I had built with clients over my 13 years in the industry. Many told me they appreciated the time I took to listen, customize their treatments, and educate them about their skin. That feedback fueled my confidence to take the leap and open my own salon.
What excites me most about Come and Glo is creating a space where people feel valued, relaxed, and empowered. It’s not just about glowing skin; it’s about helping my clients rediscover their confidence and fall in love with their reflection again.
Christopher, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m a licensed esthetician with over 13 years of experience working in various salons across Los Angeles. My journey into skincare began with my own battle with cystic acne after high school. That experience sparked a passion for understanding skin health and helping others feel confident in their skin.
In May 2023, I opened my salon, Come and Glo, in Glendale, CA. As the owner and sole esthetician, I take pride in offering highly personalized facial treatments tailored to each client’s unique needs. My services include LED therapy, microdermabrasion, microcurrent, and organic peels from Eminence Organic skincare. Whether someone is dealing with acne, hyperpigmentation, or signs of aging, my goal is to create a treatment plan that delivers visible results while enhancing their overall skin health.
What sets Come and Glo apart is the level of care and customization I bring to each treatment. Clients aren’t just another appointment on the schedule—they’re individuals with unique stories and goals. I also only use products that I love and truly believe in. I take pride in using organic skincare that aligns with my commitment to both effective results and sustainability.
One of the things I’m most proud of is how my clients leave feeling more confident, relaxed, and informed about their skin. For me, it’s not just about providing a service—it’s about empowering people to love their skin and take charge of their skincare journey.
If there’s one thing I want people to know about me and my brand, it’s this: At Come and Glo, it’s all about you. From the moment you walk in, I’m dedicated to helping you achieve healthier, younger-looking skin in a calm, welcoming space where you can truly unwind.
Have you ever had to pivot?
Some of my clients might not know this, but after high school, I started taking classes at community college. It didn’t feel like the right path for me, so I decided to try something different and enrolled in trade school to become a massage therapist. For a while, I enjoyed it—I loved helping people feel better—but over time, I realized I wasn’t as passionate about it as I wanted to be.
That’s when I made the decision to pivot. I still wanted to work with clients and stay in the wellness and self-care space, but I needed a new direction. I thought about my own struggles with my skin during those years and how it impacted my confidence and well-being.
Those experiences inspired me to explore skincare more deeply. I decided to become dual-licensed by enrolling in cosmetology school and completing the esthetician program. That decision opened a whole new world for me. I gained the professional training I needed to help others transform their skin and confidence, just as I had learned to do for myself.
Now, after 13 years in the industry and as the proud owner of Come and Glo, I can confidently say it was the best decision I ever made. It wasn’t always easy to change course, but sometimes those pivots lead you exactly where you’re meant to be.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele has definitely been a mix of word of mouth, a referral program, and consistent networking. I’ve found that when clients are happy with the services, they’ll tell their friends and family, which is one of the most organic and powerful ways to grow. That’s why I’ve made sure to have a referral program in place to reward those clients for spreading the word.
Networking is also key. I always keep business cards and product samples on hand, whether I’m at an event or just out running errands—you never know when you’ll meet someone who could benefit from my services. I’ve also had great success in connecting with local businesses and building those relationships to help spread the word about Come and Glo.
Another important element has been having a strong website. It’s a place where potential clients can learn more about my business, explore the services I offer, and get a sense of what to expect. A clear, well-organized website has helped me attract clients who may not have heard of me through word of mouth but want to see if my services align with their needs.
I also make a point to attend esthetician trade shows to take classes and stay up to date on the latest devices, techniques, and technology. It’s important to me that I’m always learning and offering my clients the most effective and innovative treatments available.
I’d say the best source of new clients for me has come from those personal connections and referrals, paired with the accessibility of my website. When someone hears about your work directly from a trusted friend or colleague, it creates a level of trust right from the start, and my website helps reinforce that. It’s been an ongoing effort, but I’m grateful for how it’s helped my business grow.
