We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Christopher Moore a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Christopher, thanks for joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea for Up to Par came from playing golf but inspired through living life. Par in golf terms means the standard or average but in on the game of golf and life black people have been made to feel devalued and behind the status quo. This lifestyle brand was created to affirm who we are and that we are good enough.
Christopher, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Golf is a sport built on tradition, and etiquette. Fashion and style have always played a key role in the game of golf and never has this been truer than today . Up To Par is a lifestyle brand for the golfer and the non golfer. When you wear Up To Par, you are shifting the culture, embracing your authenticity, and bridging the gap between race and age. The next generation is here!
Have you ever had to pivot?
Like many people, the pandemic birthed many projects and I am included in that number. I had always heard about golf but never fully pursued the sport. When I stepped off the course, I found a hobby that I became passionate about and wanted to expose those younger than me to this incredible sport.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
While social media has been very effective, nothing will beat that human contact! Being able to converse with people face to face can provide so many opportunities verses sending someone a message and it going unread or read but not answered. I may be old school in that sense.
