We recently connected with Christopher Montano and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Christopher thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
I’ve always found the moon to have such a romantic vibe connected to it. I don’t know why every time I look at the moon I’ve always felt like it was looking back at me, almost like if it was my soulmate watching after me. I don’t care how cheesy it sounds but I truly feel that and I know my clients gravitate to that because they feel a connection to the moon as well. The coloring that I use to edit is also inspired truly by a moody, romantic and earthy tones which gives the vibe of being under the moonlight. A mixture of the lighter and the darker side of the moon.
You & The Moonlight

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I started doing photography in high school and felt like it was my outlet to narrate stories the way I was seeing them. Photography for me has always been more than just taking pretty pictures but the art of bringing emotions and freezing memories that could not be replicated the same. I graduated from the Art Institute Of San Diego with a bachelors in photography and from there on I started to experiment with every genre of photography I could. I love to capture moments of romance in complete solitude, therefore I tend to always shoot in locations that require some kind of exploring and or an adventure. I mean at times we tend to hike down a cliff or run into the water just to get the shots, definitely not for everyone but I think that locations that require work just brings magic with it.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
For me being my authentic self has always been key to be able to be found on social media and to be able to work with my ideal clients which I call my wolf pack. I try to have a balance in between posting whatever comes to mind which is entertaining but also be informative. Educate others that want to learn about photography, with directing my clients how to pose etc. I tend to always gravitate to a more in the moment natural way of directing and posing so I always show behind the scenes of what goes on behind scenes during my photo shoots.
Lately I have also been posting some of the fails that we experience during our photo shoots for example getting attacked by mosquitos because that is just how it goes sometimes and the pictures always look so perfect and flawless. I think it’s important to always show that side too because we can’t take life too seriously and just go with the flow, things always work out perfect at the end.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I think always delivering my best work and trying my best with each project I work on has helped me find my wolf pack and clients I want to work with forever. At this point people are looking for a photographer that is good yes, but also want great energy and someone that just makes them feel comfortable in front and during their special day. I pride myself in these categories because I think at this point my style of imagery sets me apart but also the experiences that I take my clients to, I have a list of secret locations around the city and outside of the city and these are magical and truly something people need to experience. Overall I thank all my clients who speak so highly of me and my visions and that that complete trust in the crazy ideas I get.
