We recently connected with Christopher McCoy and have shared our conversation below.
Christopher, appreciate you joining us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Success can be described in many different levels. Some may feel success having a lot of money or some may feel success from loving what you do in life. I feel if you’re happy and doing what you love to do and can wake up day to day with a smile on your face and able to take care of your family is success. I developed this view just by my ups and down of everyday life and seeing how blessed I am compared to other individuals in this world.
Christopher, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a 2x billboard producer and have charted on Apple Music and iTunes over five times. I was recently apart of a Grammy nominated album in the contemporary blues category called “The Fury”. Been blessed to work with major artist and athletes in the industry such as Wale, Bun B, Bone Thugs, That Mexican OT, Kevin Durant and more. I have two companies, one is called Stylz Productionz which I provide mixing, mastering, production, graphic design & web design. I also have a subscription website called the Vizion academy which as well provides music and online courses. I’m proud that I can take someone’s project and create magic for clients and bring there vision to life,
Can you talk to us about how you funded your business?
I had to start my business from scratch, no loans or no borrowing from family or friends..what really got my business going is I opened up a small studio in the city and built decent capitol. The grind was tough but started getting recognition within the city and put it towards the company.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
In business you’re going to have so many ups and downs. The journey is non stop and you never know how your month is going to pan out. One thing I had to learn is have multiple jobs within the company. At first I started off just selling beats & was noticing it just wasn’t enough. I had to add to the arsenal and have my hand in many hats to actually make a decent income. Once I decided to do that, I’ve learned that my one stop shop would make a client want something I offer.
