Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Christopher Leyva. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Christopher, appreciate you joining us today. Can you tell us about a time that your work has been misunderstood? Why do you think it happened and did any interesting insights emerge from the experience?
It is very difficult still to this day in America to be recognized for being just a performing artist not a color or a race –
Unfortunately in America, Latin people can be perceived in such a negative narrative
Our culture is seen as criminals or uneducated creatures and yet we have some incredible literary poets and dreamers, yes we may be a bit unruly but that is in our blood on centuries of oppression

Christopher, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Christopher Leyva, Besides playing in a rock band called The Falling Doves, I have a few consultant jobs around the world curating events, art exhibits all Rock and Roll inspired – from pop up events and experiences to carefully crafted shows.. from Maui to Japan.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
On this journey we have been ripped of in every way possible and the hardest thing to do is to keep a great attitude for the fans and friends and other bands .. It is difficult but it is an art that must be mastered.

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Honestly I wish I would have started touring Internationally at age 20 I would have had a bigger fan base and well, I know we shouldn’t have much regrets but I would tell the younger version of myself that there is many more audiences waiting for me across the ocean blue..
