We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Christopher Jones a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Christopher , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
I started writing my book in 2014 after coming back home from a tour with Prince. I started writing what I thought would be an auto biography then I got a call to move to Atlanta for a work project and I never picked back up writing it. It wasn’t until 11 years later while managing a boutique hotel in Lake Tahoe, CA that I had a dream that I came out with a book. I was sitting with this dream or vision for 11 years so when I went to start writing it flowed seamlessly and with ease.
I knew in order to have a successful book and to keep up with the competition I would need to self publish or hire a Publisher, so I started reaching out to my network. My friend Brittney O’Rourke introduced me to a Publicist and that Publicist introduced me to Lisa Pellegrene Owner of Be Epic Media. I told her my story and THE JONES EFFECT MASTER THE ART OF NETWORKING & CONNECTIONS came to life!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I got the nickname Jones Effect for the way I connect with people and the lasting ‘effect’ I leave on them. `The Jones Effect flips the old saying “Keeping Up with the Joneses” on its head. Instead of chasing status or possessions, The Jones Effect is about mastering the art of authentic connection by building meaningful relationships that elevate not just you, but everyone around you.
In my new book I draw from decades of experience in hospitality, entertainment, and business to reveal how real success comes from people, not things. Through my personal stories, proven strategies, and practical exercises, I show readers how to transform everyday encounters into lifelong partnerships.
From managing luxury hotels and working in the music industry to collaborating with icons like Prince, I demonstrate that genuine networking is less about collecting contacts and more about creating impact. Each chapter offers a blend of wisdom, real-life lessons, and actionable steps designed to help readers develop their personal brand, strengthen their presence, and build a network that works for them, not the other way around.
The Jones Effect: Master The Art of Networking & Connections is more than a guidebook, it’s a mindset shift. It challenges you to stop “keeping up” and start lifting up, to become the person whose presence, purpose, and principles leave a ripple effect of success in every room you enter.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
What help me build my reputation is my loyalty and my work ethic with clients. Any Artist I worked for or service I provided I give more than what I am paid and give all my heart. I am a Master networker which means I know how to make connections build contacts and use them to increase my net worth. When you do this you create a reputation for providing dependable work with anyone you work with. People will recommend and refer you to others. In time this will help you market any other product or service you provide.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I opened a restaurant a month before the pandemic. It was my dream to open a restaurant and of course like the rest of the World I had no idea that a pandemic was coming. Although we were able to stay open for a year through the pandemic it was not sustainable and we had to shut down. It was then that I had to restart my life. I moved to Costa Rica to go on a spiritual healing journey. When I came back to the Los Angeles I came back to a multitude of opportunities that ultimately helped me to invest money into publishing my first book.
