We were lucky to catch up with Christopher Jones recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Christopher thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with something countless entrepreneurs have had to figure out on the fly – how have you dealt with the rise of remote work?
With Photography and Film my Team is able to work remotely because we are able to choose various projects in the U.S. and internationally.
This gives us the flexibility to travel and make our own schedule. It also allows us to see the World which helps with the creative process.
Some of the pitfalls of traveling and working remotely is that you are always on the go, living out of your suitcase, and dealing with weather conditions. Sometimes the climate is too hot/humid which affects the equipment. Sometimes it is too cold and affects your body. That’s why having multiple clothes options is important. All in all I love what I do!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My background for 15 years was Food & Beverage/Hotel Management. After moving to Atlanta from LA in 2014 me and my best friend and mentor Sheron Barber decided to open a Photography studio in the Atlanta Arts District.
It was my first time opening a photography studio and I also had never used a camera. After a few months of running the studio and meeting so many talented photographers I picked up a camera and fell in love.
I was hooked! I started learning the camera and taking it everywhere I went. Even if the shot didn’t look good I still took the shot. The camera became my best friend.
Have you ever had to pivot?
A time I had to pivot is when I decided to shut down my restaurant after covid, sell all my belongings, and move to Costa Rica a country I never lived in. I needed this time to go on a healing journey to better myself. I lost everything but I gained myself.
After living out of the country for two years I came back to the U.S. with a whole new outlook on life. Rebuilding your life is not easy but when you have the right friends and community it makes it a little easier.
We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
I met my business partner after moving to Los Angeles. We met thru a mutual friend. A week later after meeting we became very close and started working together. There was an instant mutual trust and friendship.
