We recently connected with Christopher Jenkins and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Christopher thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
When being a creative, you definitely have to be unafraid to take risks and bet on yourself at times. It can be a little frightening or unsettling, but the freedom and relief of making those game changing decisions can change your life. I remember I quit my 9 to 5 last year and at first I was nervous! I had to reassure myself over and over that I was in fact doing the right thing and that things would work out! And it did! I’ve been really well for myself every since then and I have not looked back not once!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Christopher Jenkins. I’m a photographer, painter, writer, host, and curator. I’m an all around creative you could say. I got into being a creative because it was always part of me to tell truth. I’ve been creative since a child building my own kites and writing and illustrating my own comics. I don’t try to force anything which is one of the main things I would say separates me from a lot of the pack. I set my own ideas and guidelines of what I feel is unique and cool, not industry critics. That’s also perhaps what I’m most proud of as I sit and think, because entertainment and art is dominated by too many people who are not even actually artists, but they try to tell artists what’s “IN”. I do not feed into that. And anyone that follows my work or does business with me will always get nothing but my sincere authenticity.
: Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
A personal mission of mine, is to bring all other aspects of artistic expression back to the mainstream! When the term artists is used these days 9 times out 10 it’s only mainly associated with music. Artistry encompasses so much more than just music! It’s drawing, choreography, cinematography, sculptors, culinary artists, etc. Young people need to understand this so that their dreams and ideas can expand and have room for growth!

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I love the genuine connections I make with my audience. I love the look in their eyes when they see my work. It’s look mixed with wonder, awe, and appreciation! It’s a great feeling knowing that your message or idea resonates. There’s nothing like it honestly!
