We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Christopher Howard a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Christopher thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
The Name that I came up with to give people the service that they want is… We Cater to You! As I first started going out eating in restaurants. shopping and just receiving services, it was either not quality, not quantity, not good service or just not what I asked for. So as life was just conteniuing and I was really enjoying what I do ( cooking) I decided , why not get good service , get what you pay for and even if the meal is expensive why can’t I get good quality at a reasonable price?
As I put a lot go thought in the name We Cater to you! I said to my self… why not cater to people give them what they want, what they asked for without the high end price…….
We Cater to You! was designed to give that quality to you like you deserve and most of all leave you with that everlasting smile on you face to know that you had something great without breaking the bank.
Sometimes we all need to be catered to and that’s what I do.
Christopher, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I got into the industry by loving what I do, seeing how it makes people happy and knowing that you (I) did something great for someone who may just need that. I always had a love for cooking but you have to be special to love what you do and not make it about the money or glory It did not take long for m to learn that because I use to just cook for people just for them to try my food, enjoy the presentation and the art of using your imagination.
Food is an art if you present it properly. Even though it is a business you have to love what you do before it was even a business and then you can watch it grow like a beautiful flower.
I try and give my clients the best they deserve when it comes to catering. Its important to know that if you give your all even at you lowest points in life you will prosper because I was once told … in life no matter what you do someone is always watching you. rather good or bad and at that right moment when you don’t expect it your time will shine.
The name speaks volume We Cater to You is not just a name or brand , it is what I do and what I will always do for my clients.
I grew because of what I did for my clients, Knowing that they were satisfied with every bite. You are not paying for a meal, you are paying to be catered to!
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
To build a reputation in an industry is hard due to that there are so many good people in the same industry that you are competing in. The way I did it and not saying it works for everyone is to be honest, treat people with respect, give them what they ask for and most of all be true to your self.
For every person , client, or customer that I have served I treated them with the highest respect and gave them the best that they deserve. Its true there is a lot of competition out there and you can choose any business to serve you but your reputation is what make you great and if people say that you are good and that they recommend you then you have earned that due to you treating them well.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
The biggest lesson that I had to unlearn is that is is NEVER about you. When you choose a profession , business or just to do something for others you do it for people to either buy what you sell or love what you do. when I choose to go the direction that I did, it had to be for the love of it and for others to love not to be about what I did. I actually love what I do and have a passion about it. If I create something and it does not look right to me then I am not going to serve it to a client, I will redo it until it is right for them no matter the cost.
It should never be about what you do is should be about who you are doing it for.
without going to deep when I first got started in my profession I use to video it a lot but what i did not know is the background music in my videos and I never listen to them but then I was getting a lot of hits We love the food but we even love the music in the background as well on your videos everything was in rhythm.
one day I listened and my mouth dropped I never knew that everything was in-sync.
it was never about what i was doing but about how people viewed my food and the love of music and food.
you can touch someones heart by the things you do if you don’t make it about you.
lesson learned,
