We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Christopher Greiner a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Christopher , appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
During Covid (2020) I started dabbling in the music arts. I created beats on a free software and posted them to Soundcloud. I then added rap lyrics to them and became this Christian Rapper. I got a name for myself and had some what of a foundation. However, I started to find that it’s very hard for a christian rapper to make it. I grew up playing the drums and listening to country music so I figured i’d give that a shot. I produced a beat with samples and wrote country lyrics to it. It was the first time I actually sang on a song. I found quickly that people enjoyed this new genre I was putting down. After a further dive, I taught myself how to play guitar and started figuring out my voice. I learned a few cover songs, and hit the stage. Ever since i’ve been growing and working on my craft to the point where I am now! Recently i’ve had the chance to open for Zach Bryan in Philly, which was incredible. I would have never expected to be here.
Christopher , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Chris Greiner, known as JustChris. A versatile musician residing in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. By day, im an 18-year-old college student, but by night, im lighting up stages across the tri-state area. I use music as a platform to express emotions and give light to different experiences in my life. However, my motivation has been rooted in making connections with others and desiring to create a safe music culture in which people can express themselves without judgment while also being challenged to make a positive impact on others. My intentions are less about being noticed or promoted and more about seeking to help others and create avenues for people to be open and honest about the world around them so we can seek change for good. I enjoy more than words can ever say being able to share my gifts and experiences on a stage for a crowd who can relate to me. I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
I feel one of the key things about supporting an upincoming artist is being there for them. An appearance at shows, likes, comments, shares. They all play a massive role. Society will travel 4 hrs and pay $400 to see justin bieber in nosebleeds while a local, just as talented artist is playing down the road for free. Minus the autotune.
Even if you can’t make it to a show, a like, comment, and share are also free and don’t cost you anything!! Just some kind words can go a very long way for an artist.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
One piece of advice i’d give is to be consistent and be passionate. Post a ton, share a ton, promote a ton, and enjoy what you put out there.
Someone is bound to see it and it’ll catch on like a snowball down a hill.
