We recently connected with Christopher Green and have shared our conversation below.
Christopher, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s jump right into how you came up with the idea?
When my grandmother passed in 2011, I was just perfectly my craft in poetry and creative writing. I was writing about real-world issues and everyday situations that I was directly or indirectly involved in. I sought listening to music and spending time outside as an avenue to relieve stress. Losing a family member can be difficult, but there’s something about losing a grandmother hits differently. I understood then that family means way more than I ever could have fathom. I started to write on a daily basis to help relieve the pain and assist with the grief. The idea for my first poetry book and title started to come into fruition. “Sweet Magnolia Lane” was conceived, the process has been difficult because God has kept me changing the direction. My faith is quite important, especially during these times, so I am still perfecting my craft. I continue to find growth and aspiration in everything I come across, whether its nature or a simple outing with friends. The gift given naturally, so I tend to as if it was a seedling and take care of it each and everyday. I call my writing style a poetic workout, the brain is a muscle to me. Keeping it strong for the future, I plan to write for a lifetime. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, faith over logic will push me pass any outcome or difficulty.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I started writing at a very young age, so its second nature to me. I use to write and freestyle with friends in high school on school bus while heading home. Freestyling was cool and all, but poetry was my passion. It remained that way till I stopped freestyling, but never lost the craft. My craft offers a mean to give an insight into my life for my readers. I love to use metaphors and paint a picture into my world as a person. If I can change one person’s perspective or give them a smile in this lifetime, my gift has been a blessing then. I believe spending time to understand who you are as a person and identifying your talents given will allow a person to share with the world who you really are. You can’t force things, they have to happen naturally that’s my motto. Poetry is more than a craft or hobby or even a passion, it’s a lifestyle I remain faithful too. A gift from God I utilize any the many aspects it gives.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Word of mouth, would be the most effective strategy for growing following. I understand poetry isn’t the most appealing or attractive form of art in society, but its the most personal. It gives me a chance to express myself, so sharing my works of art on social media or art forums. I love when people share my poetry on their page and I’ve been building my brand for years. I can’t to share my book with more people.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Sharing it with people around the world. There are so many creative spaces including social media where I share my expressive nature. Poetry is a two way street, allowing the artist to relieve stress and giving readers a chance to understand where I’m coming from.
