We were lucky to catch up with Christopher Galiyas recently and have shared our conversation below.
Christopher , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
I feel that all of my projects are meaningful in some way, whether if it’s for me personally or for the client I’m working with. In both cases, I always put my heart and soul into them, there are a lot of artists out there & they chose me to bring their vision to life, so I always stive to put my everything into each and every commission.
My absolute favorite projects to do are designing / painting baby nurseries. There is just something so special about a new life being brought into this world & the parents wanting to give their new child a fun, whimsical, one-of-a-kind nursery that he/she can grow up in is just amazing to me. I, in a small way, get to be part of the journey and I get to become part of the story.

Christopher , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
For those that do not know my work, I’d say keep your head on a swivel for the brightest, most vibrant, most stylized work out there. I’m usually on a ladder or lift painting murals in and around the Pittsburgh Area & I ventured into other states before doing them …. but I’m also hired for interior design work, illustration work, custom paintings + more.
I think what sets me apart from other artists is that my work / style can be switched up to fit the needs of the space and the vision of the client’s needs & desires. I love a good challenge & I love creating new things. If you have a bizarre, wild, crazy idea, I’m your artist…..I love making the impossible ….. possible.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Teaching Art, being a dad to 2 little boys who love art & creating my own art drives me, I want to be a better artist for my students, my kids, and myself. It’s important for my student to know that I’m a working artist outside of school, I feel that it inspires them and it lets them know that they can do it also. I absolutely love seeing Arrow & Navy (my 2 boys) creating Art, they are both getting soooooo good, esp Arrow, he is definitely advanced in this area & it amazes me how easily he picks up new techniques & skills so quickly. I’m also super hard on myself when it comes to my work, I push for greatness in all of the work I complete on my creative journey, people will always talk about your newest piece so It has to be better than the last.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding part about being a creative is that I get to work with my hands, each day is different from the previous day, and I love seeing the smiles & hearing the reactions when the client sees their piece for the first time. It’s a surreal moment when the client walks into the room for the first time to see their mural, it’s magical. I couldn’t imagine doing anything else in this world & I’m extremely blessed that I get to teach the future artists of tomorrow. If you haven’t had any custom artwork done at your home or business, you should ….. immediately …… the transformation and beauty alone gets everyone talking and it makes the environment so much more inviting & you’ll get to experience the “unveiling” first hand.
