We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Christopher Coderre a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Christopher thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. It’s easy to look at a business or industry as an outsider and assume it’s super profitable – but we’ve seen over and over again in our conversation with folks that most industries have factors that make profitability a challenge. What’s biggest challenge to profitability in your industry?
Changes in new marketing strategies heavily leaning on non professional Social Media as a company’s public presence because of the new generations not wanting to be “sold” and “marketed to”, but are okay with watching some quick tik tok video of the staff dancing in the place of business. Covid also changed society and marketing has been fickle to make any moves for fear of losing more money instead of putting money into video and commercial marketing to generate more awareness of their product or service.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My creative journey started long ago as a young child having a love of cinema and visual storytelling. I have always been an artist since I could hold a pencil or brush. My personal goal has always been to make an impact on society. I want my art or filmmaking to make an impression that causes people to think. I have created a lot of call to action videos for auctions and fundraisers over the years. My style has always been to lead with emotion, grab the viewer and pull them in. Emotion is the great communicator.

Alright – so here’s a fun one. What do you think about NFTs?
Well my view on NFT’s is not very positive. I have known fellow professional artists who have been ripped off in a fraud to buy their NFT’s. I also view them as something closer to clip art that can be copied and duplicated without any real impact or cost to the person making a copy. I feel that it is similar to cryptocurrencies than it is to even a collectable printed cards or limited run printings. When we are dealing with digital pixels of 0’s and 1’s and not a physical art, then the intrinsic value is basically worthless and can be copied and shared with ease.
