We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Christopher Clark a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Christopher , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s jump right into how you came up with the idea?
So shortly after coming off of tour with Rapper Pierre Bourne, I started editing on cap cut because my cousin said you should take a stab at it . When I tried it, Immediately I got the swing of things and was hooked! This was Christmas Day BTW! By January I was making short projects for friends still on my phone, quick lil 15 secs reels and some content for my church . By April things have picked up a bit and I decided to buy my first Camera ! As Im in the gym with my personal trainer Im showing him some of my work and the first thing he says is, “Man you’re capturing “Life In Focus”. And when He said that I knew My Brand would be called LifeInFocusMedia. And it’s been history since then !

Christopher , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
So for starters, I never had a passion for anything Film or Photography, it never was in mind. I’ve actually been an Audio Engineer since I was 16 at my local church. Which later ventured me into the cooperate side of work which then led to the industry . On November 15, 2017 I received a word from my pastor and he said Film will take you to new heights and you will direct films . I’m kinda puzzled at this cause ummmm… I have no desire at all to even want to do such a thing but as you can see God makes no mistakes and I’m here 6 years later living out what was spoken over my life .
As a cinematographer, my number 1 goal is to bring the clients work to life. Whatever vision they are casting it is my objective for it to be captured. Keeping the client comfortable is completely crucial when working on a project whether a PhotoShoot,or documentary it’s all about bringing to life the best version of the individual.
In this industry it’s really easy to copy and paste what you see, but I’ve learned if you never take the time to create yourself, your identity will always be placed in man and we will actually never knew who you are . Taking the time to be comfortable with you and being okay with knowing that there are thousands who may be better than you is the first step to becoming a successful Cinematographer.
Something I can look back on that brings me joy is hearing the feedback of completed projects of clients. To know that they loved what took you hours on in to edit just warms your heart like no other feeling. That’s what I’m after with LifeInFocusMedia. Yea this is a brand but when clients walk away with there project I also want there to be a relationship. It’s easy to work with someone and disappear, but making life lasting bonds, and safe atmospheres for humans is what I want people to know when they partner with me

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Comparison Comparison comparison!
Before I actually even started filming or took any pictures I felt like I was almost paralyzed to create anything . Immediately doubt hits your mind and you feel inadequate to make anything . But I want people to understand your first project may not be the best or your 10th one. The consistency is what will make you great in the long run. You can be extremely talented, but if you sit around watching tv all day and never work on your craft, your talent will quickly get surpassed by somebody’s hard work .

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Yes ! My goal is to make “LIFM” a major motion picture production and a hub for Directors, Cinematographers alike . I want millions to know that are like me and and wondering is this even possible? Yes it is ! I am living proof and a testament to pursuing and capturing your dreams and making them reality . I see Cam Kirk Studios and think man what if we had that for filmmakers and it was that known !!? But not just Atlanta all across the globe multiple locations and a chance to give back through education and give upcoming filmmakers a chance to grow in the right places and not treading blindly .
