We were lucky to catch up with Christopher Chain recently and have shared our conversation below.
Christopher, appreciate you joining us today. One of our favorite things to brainstorm about with friends who’ve built something entrepreneurial is what they would do differently if they were to start over today. Surely, there are things you’ve learned that would allow you to do it over faster, more efficiently. We’d love to hear how you would go about setting things up if you were starting over today, knowing everything that you already know.
If I were starting all over I would definitely tell myself to master all the basics first. I was so wraped up in buying better and better equipment thinking I would produce a better product/photos instead of mastering the technique of taking quality photos. Equipment is great but the knowledge to use it is more powerful. I could have definitely saved so money along the way too.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I have been into photography for a long time now. It started with taking photos on my phone when I would go for hikes. I really fell in love when I got my first digital camera. The ability to not just take a photo but to create it the way you want. Then I got into editing, where I belive all the fun really begins. You can really do a lot these days and make the photo however you want. This has been creative outlet for many years. I also love the printing process. It’s one thing to see a photo on the computer but it really becomes almost alive when you print it and hold it for the first time.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
At first I was trying hard to take photos I thought people wanted to see. I wanted my product to be out there for everyone to see. I later found out I was much happier taking the photos I wanted to take and not worrying about what people thought. As long as I like my photos thats all I really cared about.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Social media can be a super useful tool. Most of the time it cost little to nothing to start a social media presence. I belive networking is the most helpful way to grow your presece online. Connect with like-minded people and people in your industry.
