We were lucky to catch up with Christopher Billik recently and have shared our conversation below.
Christopher, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
My parents are a major factor in my success. My mother taught me to view my work as a calling and more than “just a job”. She always told me to focus on the work and that the money would follow. She taught me that you can build real friendships with your clients. My father taught my about attention to detail, the importance of integrity and the importance of consistency. He taught me that you should do good work out of respect for the craft itself.
Christopher, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I work in original song production, mixing, and mastering. Most of my clients come to me because they don’t want an off the shelf track and need something tailored to their vision. I love to work with songwriters who have a unique idea and producers and artists with high standards.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Integrity and listening. If you do right by people and add value, they will do your marketing for you,
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
There’s so many great books but in this context I think that “Principles: Life and Work ” by Ray Dalio is hard to beat.
