We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Christopher Allen a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Christopher, thanks for joining us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
I believe showing up for yourself and for your business everyday is one key to achieve success. Adaptability and being willing to pivot are skills that can lead to success. In fact, there will be a lot of learning that takes place while you are on your success journey. For example, this year We launched Shoot Your Shot Education & Afterschool programs to bring photography education to the school districts. What makes for a successful business or brand is that you have to be willing to listen to trusted mentors, advisors, and consultants. I equate it to learning a new language. Having the ability to learn from your mistakes while keeping a positive attitude will go a long way in business.
Christopher, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Christopher Allen and I am the creator of Shoot Your Shot “The C. Allen Experience” and The Photography Bar. I help people unlock their inner photographer by teaching them how to take better photos and videos with their smartphone. I believe that our smartphones make us the most powerful people in the room. I host a very interactive photography event I named Shoot Your Shot. It allows people to experience photography in an innovative and fun atmosphere. My goal is to take Shoot Your Shot to different cities and venues across the nation. This year I introduced Shoot Your Shot, our, after school program. Our goal is to bring photography education to the schools and community centers in the city of Houston. As a professional photographer, photography has allowed me to work with many talented people as well as work with a multitude of industries.
Is there a mission driving your creative journey?
Yes absolutely, my goal today is to share my passion of photography with the masses. I am an innovator and visionary. I am innovating the photography industry by making photography inclusive and open to all people. It also inspires me to create a new form of entertainment I call “Photography Entertainment.”
What do you find most rewarding about being creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist or creative is that I get the opportunity to meet and work with a variety of different professionals from all types of backgrounds. A few of my clients have been realtors, influencers, small business owners, and a few celebrities. All of us, have something within us that drives us. You can almost see that sparkle in their eye if you ask the right question.
