We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Christoph Gabathuler. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Christoph below.
Christoph, appreciate you joining us today. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
I went to art school to study motion design but over the years I have continued to take classes to learn new skills. I am constantly doing tutorials online to learn new programs and work flows. I think learning your craft is an evolving thing and you need to make it a habit to keep developing it.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m a digital artist and art director based in Los Angeles but originally from Switzerland.
I’ve been working in the entertainment industry for over 10 years, creating everything from title sequences to immersive visuals for film and TV. Recently, I worked on the main titles for Hello Tomorrow and Dune: Prophecy, which earned some exciting recognition, including an Emmy nomination and a couple of CLIO Awards.
I work for a range of studios where I get to explore storytelling through design, animation, and visual effects. I love using technology to bring ideas to life and push the limits of what’s possible on screen.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I have always had the desire to tell meaningful stories through visuals, to take something abstract, emotional, or complex and translate it into a world, a feeling, or a moment that resonates with people. I’ve always been drawn to the intersection of design, motion, and narrative. There’s something incredibly powerful about shaping how a story feels before a single word is spoken, whether through a title sequence, a visual identity, or a motion piece.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Sometimes when you are in the middle of struggling with a project it is hard to see it but having a final piece of work that other people can enjoy is rewarding.
