Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Christine Vo. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Christine, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
With the time I have, I hope to be remembered for my passion. The passion for photography, the passion for storytelling, and the passion for learning.
Unknowingly, my curiosity has driven me to find that passion. I was always the kid asking questions, trying to figure out how the world and everything in it worked.
Now as a photojournalist, I rely on those instincts to create.
Many times I find myself engulfed in my photography stationed behind my camera anywhere I go.
Christine, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Like many others from a young age, I had a fascination with the family camera. Without realizing my own interest, my dad told me, “If I wanted the camera, I could go outside and shoot some photos to persuade him.” From there on I took every photography, yearbook, and newspaper class I could, anything to get me behind the camera.
I found my true passion in photojournalism, catching candid moments as they happened. There is a variety that I enjoy, never knowing what your next assignment could be. I’ve shot sports, concerts, family events, and many more.
I value the community impact and vulnerability my clients are willing to give when they trust I can deliver.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I have always been independent. Growing up as the eldest daughter in an Asian household, I grew accustomed to finding the answer to my own questions.
But, as I’ve grown to rely on a team, I’ve learned asking is better than guessing.
No one person knows everything and with the help of other talented individuals, we can come together to push each other further.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Being a creative, I am constantly striving to push the limits. The most rewarding aspect is to know those risks are positively impacting my community.
Every day I’m out photographing hundreds of people, and to have even just one person feel seen, that’s my only goal.
