Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Christine Nguyen. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Christine, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
I learned my craft in the video ad industry thanks to my team & clients at Bear Hands Media! I work with diverse and passionate creatives – who come from all walks of life. We all have different strengths & weaknesses from one another in the art and strategy of video. This provides a balanced learning environment. Equally, I also work with diverse and passionate clients from various industries. Since I always am working with different types of colleagues, clients, and campaigns, it’s provided me with an array of experiences that shaped me professionally. Teaching me valuable new perspectives that I’ve applied towards team building, our business operations, and even my own personal growth.
Knowing what I know now, the most essential skill that would have sped up my learning process is self-kindness. I am constantly learning how to be less self-critical. I believe that compassionate leadership is practiced through authenticity, kindness, and vulnerability. But in order to create a culture for one’s team that cultivates connection & trust – that first starts with a leader having that inner capacity to exude self-compassion. I feel that this strengthens a leader to respond to challenges mindfully & skillfully. And ultimately, providing a community of resilience for others and for one’s self.
One of the most insightful challenges that I had to learn is how to better manage my response to the unknown. Especially when it comes to external factors that’s going to directly impact our company’s future. Sometimes this means accepting that there are things that happen inevitably beyond our control. I’ve learned that in those situations, it’s healthier to be mentally flexible with my expectations of outcomes. It’s okay to not be able to forecast everything. What’s more important is how adaptable I can be in pivoting to the unexpected obstacle. Solving them one at a time as they come, whenever they come, and to always remember that I have a team to overcome it together with me.
Christine, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m the COO at Bear Hands Media. I’ve been in the video ad industry for 9 years now and I love everything about it! What’s truly unique about us is we’re a marketing agency of video strategists. Let me elaborate more about our brand – have you ever seen a bad video on a website, or a TV commercial, or a social media ad? Ones that are so bad that you’re like – gross, I wouldn’t buy from them! Well, we do the opposite of that, haha. We help businesses avoid making video ads that un-sell their products & services.
We develop video marketing plans – advising on ad concepts, the creative, and its implementation strategy. All the while also, managing every stage of production – from scripting to post production and everything in between. It doesn’t stop there – we also buy placements & manage ad spend. And we don’t just let them run wild unattended. We take care of ads like our babies – making adjustments as needed to ensure each ad implemented is getting the fiercest returns possible. With data derived reports that are easy to read and understand.
That’s us. As for me particularly, I’m the Bear on the team who embraces both the right & left side of my brain. Meaning I’m equally a passionate creative who loves all things relating to the arts, yet I also have a flair for strategic planning. That’s the side of me that’s the experienced project and production manager of 12 years. I have a strong sense of empathy, an eye for the details as well as design, and a knack for organization. This all helps bring motivation and inspiration to anything I work together on with others. My top of mind goal is to always help my team to grow and for my clients to succeed – after all, that’s the ambition that empowers me.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Bear Hands Media has a flawless reputation with successful client campaigns. I believe that this is built by the framework of our team’s philosophy. The success of how well someone is in their role may be defined by their own personality, skills, and work ethic. However, that itself does not contribute to the success of the whole campaign, and ultimately for our client. It’s more importantly measured by how much impact someone has in also helping their team members succeed in their own roles. We’re not working in silos amongst ourselves. Nor are we even working in silos amongst our clients. Altogether, our team is working in concert with our clients – forming a unified, interconnected team. And with that philosophy, we are able to effectively Beast-Mode their business. Which means, we provide clients with video marketing solutions that help quickly communicate product value, shorten sales cycles, and maintain market dominance.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding thing about being a creative and a video strategist is that our work is not just only to help clients with their business goals, but it’s going beyond that as well, intangibly. Sharing stories through video ads that could inspire minds, fill hearts, and move people into action. Creating impactful and intentional content that connects us closer to one another – on a more human level – that’s what I find fulfilling.
